Quantitative hepatitis B surface antigen (qHBsAg) and quantitative e (qHBeAg) titers are emerging as useful tools for measuring viral loads predicting the virological response (VR) serological (SR) to pegylated interferon therapy. However, clinical utility of these assays in patients taking entecavir (ETV) is largely unknown. Treatment-naive with chronic (CHB) who were ETV 2 years enrolled. The qHBsAg qHBeAg levels serially measured Architect assay. From 95 patients, 60.0% whom...

Background/Aims: Treating hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with portal vein tumor thrombosis (PVTT) remains controversial. We compared the outcomes of hepatic resection (HR), transarterial chemoembolization (TACE), and sorafenib therapy as treatments for HCC PVTT. Methods: Patients diagnosed PVTT between January 2000 December 2011 who received treatment sorafenib, HR, or TACE were included. main PVTT, superior mesenteric thrombosis, Child-Turcotte-Pugh (CTP) class C excluded. The records 172...

Abstract Synthesis of a polymer composed large discrete number chemically distinct monomers in an absolutely defined aperiodic sequence remains challenge chemistry. The synthesis has largely been limited to oligomers having repeating units due the difficulties associated with step-by-step addition individual achieve high molecular weights. Here we report copolymers α-hydroxy acids, poly(phenyllactic- co -lactic acid) (PcL) built via cross-convergent method from four dyads as constituent...

We investigated the cytotoxic activities of crocin and crocetin, 2 major carotenoids isolated from stigma Crocus sativus (saffron), on 5 human cancer cell lines proposed their possible anticancer mechanisms. Crocetin, a glycosylated carotenoid, showed approximately 5- to 18-fold higher cytotoxicity than crocin, carboxylic carotenoid (IC50 0.16-0.61 mmol/L for crocetin vs. 2.0-5.5 crocin). This suggests that structural differences account different efficacies between them....

Recently, the Autism Brain Imaging Data Exchange (ABIDE) project revealed decreased functional connectivity in individuals with Spectrum Disorders (ASD) relative to typically developing controls (TDCs). However, it is still questionable whether source of under-connectivity subjects ASD equally contributed by ipsilateral and contralateral parts brain. In this study, we decomposed inter- intra-hemispheric regions compared density (FCD) between 458 517 TDCs from ABIDE database. We quantified...

Abstract Sealants are useful as agents that can prevent the leakage of gas or nonclotting fluids from damaged tissues and blood vascular system following injury repair. Various formulations for sealants have been developed applied clinically, but problems still remain in terms biocompatibility issues, long crosslinking times low adhesive properties. Herein, to address these we report a methacrylated silk fibroin sealant (Sil-MAS) with rapidly crosslinkable, highly biocompatible properties...

Chronic endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in hepatocytes plays a role the pathogenesis of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Therefore, given association between oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and ER our study investigated NRF2-mediated SIRT3 activation stress. SIRT3, sirtuin, was predicted as target NRF2 based on bioinformatic analyses animal experiments. Nrf2 abrogation diminished DNA content with Ppargc1α Cpt1a inhibition, whereas its overexpression enhanced oxygen...

Nanosized silica and functionalized spherical particles have typically been made by complex methods, which were then used as template materials to fabricate nanostructured materials. However, in a simple one-step hydrolytic co-condensation process, we synthesized various sizes of nano/micro hard spheres network polysilsesquioxanes, similar silica, narrow size distribution from heterogeneous mixtures organomethoxysilanes, surfactants, water, ammonium hydroxide solution. Abstract We have demonstrated that unsubstituted thiophene can be polymerized by Fe 3+ ‐catalyzed oxidative polymerization inside nanosized monomer droplets, is, nanoreactors, dispersed in aqueous medium, which performed under acidic solution conditions with anionic surfactant. Besides, we proposed a synthetic mechanism for the formation of polythiophene nanoparticles medium. This facile method includes FeCl 3 /H 2 O (catalyst/oxidant) combination system, guarantees high conversion (ca. 99%)...

Activation of sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1 (SREBP-1), a master lipogenic transcription factor, is associated with cancer metabolism and metabolic disorders. Neddylation, the process adding NEDD8 to its substrate, contributes diverse biological processes. Here, we identified SREBP-1 as substrate for neddylation by UBC12 explored impact on tumor aggressiveness. In cell-based assays, prolonged stability decrease in ubiquitination.
