A graphdiyne nanosheet/Pt nanoparticle composite shows outstanding catalytic activity for the reaction of I3−/I− redox pairs, i.e., best among rGO/Pt composites, Pt nanoparticles and foils. Herein, ultra-small NiFe2O4 hollow particles, with the diameter and wall thickness of only 6 1.8 nm, respectively, were anchored on a graphene surface based nanoscale Kirkendall effect.
