We demonstrate that laser beams can be converged toward a light-absorbing target through optically diffusive media by using photoacoustic-guided interferometric focusing. The convergence of light is achieved shaping the wavefront incident with deformable mirror to maximize photoacoustic signal, which proportional scattered intensity at absorber.

Abstract As part of the third Tibetan Plateau Atmospheric Scientific Experiment field campaign, raindrop size distribution (DSD) measurements were taken with a laser optical disdrometer in Naqu, China, at 4,508 m above sea level (asl) during summer months 2013, 2014, and 2015. The characteristics DSDs for five different rain rates, two types (convective stratiform), daytime nighttime rains studied. shapes averaged similar width increased rainfall intensity. Little difference was found...

We have recently shown that rainfall, one of the main climatic determinants terrestrial net primary productivity (NPP), can be robustly estimated from mean molar tooth crown height (hypsodonty) mammalian herbivores. Here, we show another functional trait herbivore surfaces, longitudinal loph count, similarly used to extract reasonable estimates rainfall but also temperature, other determinant NPP. Together, and number lophs explain 73 per cent global variation in NPP today resolve biomes...

Abstract Motivated by the emergence of dominant physical stores utilizing a buy‐online‐and‐pickup‐in‐store (BOPS) channel, we examine interaction such stronger retailer and manufacturer's strategies on pricing service value. The provides an added value to end consumers traditional channel BOPS option, which has positive influence market demand. manufacturer makes selection decision between dual omni‐channel. We formulate Stackelberg game characterize equilibrium solutions under centralized...

Abstract The Yarlung Zsangbo Grand Canyon (YGC) is an important pathway for water vapor transport from southern Asia to the Tibetan Plateau (TP). This area exhibits one of highest frequencies convective activity in China, and precipitation often induces natural disasters local communities, which can dramatically affect their livelihoods. In addition, produced gives rise vast glaciers large rivers around YGC. 2018, Second Scientific Expedition Research Program tasked a research team conduct...

An improved open-ended coaxial line resonator method for measuring the complex permittivity of biological substances is presented. By considering end radiation losses and higher order mode effects, upper frequency limit extended from 4 GHz to 11 GHz. A novel lambda/4 resonator, which uses a thin copper diaphragm coupling structure, was developed. Experiments show that structure very flexible, convenient, reliable. Experimental results several canine organs as well human skin are given. The...

In rotary ultrasonic grinding (RUG), a rotating transformer can be used to replace the established slip ring technology and provide contactless power supply revolving transducer. Such energy transfer (CET) is safe, high rotation speeds are possible. Compared with closely coupled transformer, efficiency of lower. Compensation windings necessary improve efficiency. addition, cutting force in RUG not constant; this will influence performance, which turn affects vibration amplitude tool. paper,...

A straightforward yet efficient, nanopore-based strategy that enables the sensitive detection of copper(II) ion (Cu2+) and real-time monitoring a click reaction is provided. Two single-stranded DNAs (ssDNAs) are designed to act as preprobes, one being modified with an azide other alkyne. The presence Cu2+ induces ligation two ssDNAs via reaction, leading formation forked DNA which can quantitatively generate characteristic current signatures when interacts α-hemolysin (α-HL) nanopore. assay...
