The Cloud Area Padovana, deployed in 2014, is a scientific IaaS cloud, spread between two different sites: the INFN Padova Unit and Legnaro National Labs. It provides about 1100 logical cores 50 TB of storage. entire computing facility, owned by INFN, satisfies computational storage demands more than 100 users belonging to 30 research projects, mainly related HEP nuclear physics. data centre also has hosted operated since 2015 an independent cloud managing network, resources 10 departments...

Grid systems must provide its users with precise and reliableinformation about the status usage of available resources. The efficient distribution this information enables Virtual Organizations (VOs) to optimize utilization strategies theirresources complete planned computations. In paper, we describe recent evolution GridICE, a monitoring tool for systems. Such evolutions are targeted at satisfying requirements from main categories users: operators, site administrators, Organization (VO)...

The monitoring of the grid user activity and application performance is extremely useful to plan resource usage strategies particularly in cases complex applications. Large VOs, such as LHC do their by means dashboards. Other VOs or communities, like for example BioinfoGRID one, are characterized a greater diversification types: so effort provide dashboard monitor heavy. main theme this paper show improvements introduced GridICE, web tool built provides an almost complete monitoring. These...

GridICE is a monitoring tool for Grid systems that support the operations and management activities of different types users: site administrators, VO managers, operators end-users. The designed to deal with dynamics, diversity geographical distribution observed resources. It continuously evolved driven by user requirements. purpose this paper disseminate evolution strategy in order solicit community feedback.

While in the business world cloud paradigm is typically implemented purchasing resources and services from third party providers (e.g. Amazon), scientific environment there's usually need of on-premises IaaS infrastructures which allow efficient usage hardware distributed among (and owned by) different administrative domains. In addition, requirement open source adoption has led to choice products like OpenStack by many organizations.

The Cloud Area Padovana has been running for almost two years. This is an OpenStack-based scientific cloud, spread across different sites: the INFN Padova Unit and Legnaro National Labs. hardware resources have scaled horizontally vertically, by upgrading some hypervisors adding new ones: currently it provides about 1100 cores. Some in-house developments were also integrated in OpenStack dashboard, such as a tool user project registrations with direct support INFN-AAI Identity Provider...

WorldGRID is an intercontinental testbed spanning Europe and the US integrating architecturally different Grid implementations based on Globus toolkit. The has been successfully demonstrated during demos at SuperComputing 2002 (Baltimore) IST2002 (Copenhagen) where real HEP application jobs were transparently submitted from using "native" mechanisms run resources available, independently of their location. To monitor behavior performance such spot problems as soon they arise, DataTAG...
