Thermally driven artificial muscles, such as twisted polymer actuators (TPAs), are a promising new development in the field of smart materials. TPAs have potential applications advanced prostheses, robotics, or any operation that produces excess heat and requires actuation. The theory explaining actuation phenomenon is based on anisotropic thermal expansion drawn polymers, which expand radially contract axially under loading. When monofilaments twisted, these properties remain relatively...

The utility of 2-isoxazolines (Δ2-isoxazolines, 4,5-dihydroisoxazoles) in the preparation natural products and other compounds medicinal materials interest is growing because 2-isoxazoline serves both as a desirable functional group versatile synthetic intermediate. Nitrile oxide cycloaddition (NOC) to alkenes most common method for 2- isoxazolines, intramolecular version this reaction provides powerful entry into complex polycyclic systems. The interest in developing multifunctional materials has greatly increased the last decade. Power storage composites are just one class of that potential to lead significant size and weight reduction. Many electronic devices (i.e. laptops, cellphones, iPods, etc.) mechanical systems require or generate electrical power during operation (i.e., hybrid fully electric cars, wind turbines, airplanes, could benefit substantially from these materials. While several types structural have been...
