A new C3-symmetric Schiff-base fluorescent probe (L) based on 8-hydroxy-2-methylquinoline has been developed. As expected, the L can display high selectivity for Cd2+ over Zn2+ and most other common ions in neutral ethanol aqueous medium. Moreover, mechanism of L–Cd2+ complex confirmed by X-ray crystallography density functional theory calculation results. More importantly, could be used to image within living cells.
A novel Ir-catalyzed annulation of imidamides with sulfonyl azides has been developed. 1,2-Disubstituted benzimidazoles could be easily obtained in up to 99% yield for more than 40 examples. The products further streamline the synthesis molecules that are important building blocks organic and drug discovery. This strategy features high regioselectivity, efficiency, good tolerance functional groups, mild reaction conditions.

Ir-catalyzed direct C–H sulfamidation of benzaldehydes has been achieved. A series ortho-amided were obtained in up to 95% yields for 21 examples with excellent regioselectivity and broad functional group tolerance. This transformation could proceed smoothly low catalyst loading under external-oxidant-, acid-, or base-free conditions. Molecular nitrogen was released as the sole byproduct, providing an environmentally benign process.

An ultra-high resolution refractive-index sensor with the Kretschmann configuration was proposed and experimentally demonstrated.
