Background: The gold standard for percutaneous pedicle screw placement is 2-dimensional (2D) fluoroscopy. Data are sparse on the accuracy of 3-dimensional (3D) navigation in minimally invasive spine procedures. Objective: We sought to compare a single surgeon’s using 2D fluoroscopy versus 3D navigation, as well investigate effect facet orientation violation when Methods: conducted retrospective radiographic study consecutive cohort patients who underwent lumbar instrumentation either or...
While adverse local tissue reactions are well described in the total hip arthroplasty literature, there have only been case reports and series knee literature. There no cases setting of a distal femoral replacement. In this case, we describe 69-year-old female with complex history left revision proximal tibial replacement who presented pain was found to extensive reaction corrosion at stem-extension piece junction extension piece-distal component junction. The taper then manually cleaned...
Background: Citation analyses are often used as a measurement of an article’s impact in specific field study. Clinically, shoulder arthroplasty has been rapidly growing field, and there ample research done on it the past few decadesThe purpose this study is to determine 50 most cited articles their characteristics. Methods: The Science Index Expanded was searched for citations related (including total shoulder, reverse arthroplasty, hemiarthroplasty) published 72 journals category...
Citation analysis is a commonly used method for appraising the impact of academic publications within particular field study. A gap exists in citation literature with regard to topic direct anterior approach (DAA) hip arthroplasty. The purpose this study identify 50 most frequently cited related topic. The Clarivate Analytics Web Knowledge database was utilized search relating DAA top articles that met inclusion criteria were recorded and reviewed various metrics. The total 3521 times, an...

Few studies have assessed the relationship between quantity of preoperative corticosteroid injections (CSIs) or hyaluronic acid (HAIs) and postoperative infection risk after total knee hip arthroplasty (TKA, THA). We aimed to (1) determine whether number administered before TKA/THA procedures is associated with infections (2) establish varies by injection type. This retrospective cohort study included 230,487 THAs 371,511 TKAs from 2017 2018 Medicare Limited Data Set. The CSI HAI, defined as...
INTRODUCTION The rising cost of medical education, coupled with a lack personal finance can have detrimental effects on both the and professional well-being young orthopaedic surgeons. This study utilizes career in surgery as case to 1) elucidate changes return investment (ROI) medicine 2) discuss implications these for surgeons, 3) advocate widespread education trainees. METHODS Financial analysis principles, including net present value (NPV), internal rate (IRR), multiple invested capital...
In 2015, The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (JBJS) updated its level evidence (LOE) scale. We reviewed all studies published in JBJS the two years before updating LOE scale, re-designated according to Level 4 therapeutic were most common (32%). 2 prognostic had greatest number designation changes (26). Near perfect agreement was met for (k:0.96) diagnostic (k:0.96). Prognostic demonstrated a lower (k:0.65). Studies 2015 may have different designations if today.
