A search for ${\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{e}$'s in excess of the number expected from conventional sources has been made using Liquid Scintillator Neutrino Detector, located 30 m behind Los Alamos Meson Physics Facility beam stop. The ${\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{e}$ are detected via ${\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{e}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{e}^{+}n$ with ${e}^{+}$ energy between 36 and $60\mathrm{MeV}$, followed by a $\ensuremath{\gamma}$ ray...
Succession is a challenge to family businesses for number of reasons, including the need address issue intergenerational handover. This article focuses on one aspect succession in business by investigating when members are preferred as successors. Results from 860 indicate that specific (tacit) knowledge characteristics combined with favorable transaction atmosphere, certain contexts, make member most suitable successor. A conceptual model presented outlines inside-family preferred.
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to describe the entrepreneurial intention (EI) among Danish university students applying theory planned behaviour. Design/methodology/approach Using cross-sectional data from Global University Student Spirit Survey 2013 ( n =1,027) analysis based on a joint correspondence (JCA) investigating relationships between variables. Findings Results indicate that prefer career as employee showing low EI. Both very high and EI are related high/low self-efficacy...
Theory and practice both have recognised the importance of external knowledge to enhance organisations' innovation performance. Due growing interest in effectively collaborating with sources, research has investigated firm-external stakeholder interaction open innovation. Despite valuable insights into variety sources (open) innovation, overlooked so far that managers' characteristics practices are relevant for absorption Thus, purpose this study is explore how absorptive capacity –...
Purpose – Knowledge often is the fundament for strategic competitive advantage. Thus, it highly relevant to understand better how knowledge transferred from one generation next in family businesses. The purpose of this paper link advantage realisation businesses success transferring strategically valuable different business environments generation. Design/methodology/approach Building on contingency model succession (Royer et al. , 2008) transfer cultures investigated paper. From a...
In the family business literature, succession research has focused on member as they enter leadership role or different issues that affect process. Although researchers have acknowledged in businesses is “punctuated” by decision making events, less attention been given to understanding how incumbents make decisions about ownership and management transitions. an effort continue understand process it important type of transitions intend engage (i.e., intra-family succession, out no...
How can a family business reduce environmental uncertainty and dependence by developing its model, changing the logic of creating capturing value through activities? Cimber, Denmark-based family-owned airline, has developed different models since establishment in 1950. Resource theory help illuminate actions that Cimber took this process. The played an important role balancing internal external influences, shaping scope complexity specific path dependencies.
The reaction 12C(νμ,μ−)X has been measured near threshold using a π+ decay-in-flight νμ beam from the Los Alamos Meson Physics Facility and massive liquid scintillator neutrino detector (LSND). In energy region 123.7<Eν<280 MeV, spectral shape is consistent with that expected Fermi-gas model (FGM). However, flux-averaged inclusive cross section {[8.3±0.7(stat)±1.6(syst)]×10−40 cm2} more than factor of 2 lower predicted by recent random phase approximation calculation.Received 28 September...
Understanding knowledge transfer in family firm succession is important for the survival of firms. Previous research has begun to explore suitability internal versus external successor firms with regard relevant types. This paper builds on contingency model business order understand when successors are preferred because their family–specific experiential knowledge. A case study analysis from German–Danish border region explores how a used last 12 successions. We argue that industries where...
Based on a survey of 170 Danish SMEs the paper examines influences entry mode choices and financialoutcome these decisions. The main research objectives are divided into two steps: Step 1: To determine thefactors influencing choice foreign modes by companies. 2: relationshipbetween export performance, measured in terms financial outcome. Drawingfrom transaction cost theory authors develop test model where different factors affect level ofcontrol chosen parent company. This study contributes...
This article explores the relevance of different entry modes for Danish exporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Internal external resources that influence choice into Brazil, Russia, India China (BRIC) markets are investigated from both a resource-based view (RBV) market-based (MBV). The survey conducted by University Southern Denmark in 2012 is based on sample 177 SMEs. Our results this study show companies entering BRIC mainly prefer low commitment modes. more traditional internal...
Purpose The question of crisis resistance and resilience long-lived family businesses became particularly volatile with the beginning Corona crisis. In this context project “Narratives Survival” was launched focusing on prevailing narratives to find out how situations have been dealt narrated by German firms. Design/methodology/approach Based narrative interviews, empirical study transgenerational entrepreneurship first approached in an open-ended manner. interview guideline addresses...
Since the UNCED (United Nations Conference on Environment and Development) in Rio de Janeiro 1992, sustainable development is a socio-political goal all over world it becomes even more relevant with regard to recent discussion climate change financial crisis. According family business research, sustainability – here defined as social, economic ecologic long-term orientation seems overlap partly resources of long-lived businesses. This case study research concentrates management owned...
Purpose Resilience of long-lived family businesses has been widely acknowledged but the mechanisms enabling longevity need to be further investigated. This can done by examining how narratives about crisis situations are processed in firms. Design/methodology/approach Based on narrative interviews, this qualitative study examines have dealt with and narrated German Findings Narratives survival a strengthening effect so they become also for survival. The analysis reveals constructive...
This paper focuses on the international joint venture formation process of family businesses. The reason behind Danfoss' decision to cooperate with two competing businesses in Japan and China as well non-family Canada Great Britain will be analysed. In-depth qualitative interviews reveal driving forces both sides show how psychic distance can reduced between different parent firms including Joint Venture (JV) child. purpose this study is compare equal split or equity ventures regarding...
This paper presents a consumption-based method accounting for greenhouse gas emissions at regional level based on multi-region input-output model. The is consumption and includes imports exports of emissions, factual emission developments, green investments as well low carbon development policies. We comparatively analyse three case studies in Denmark show how initiatives implemented to reduce are translated into easy access parameter changes the transparently assesses impact various...
Based on a sample of 177 exporting SMEs, this study investigates what market entry strategy is used by Danish family and non-family businesses. From resource-based view, three critical internal factors (risk, flexibility control) affecting the mode choice into BRIC markets are analysed. The effective management firms' resources capabilities influenced perception these when expanding foreign markets. Our results confirmed that firms build up longer lasting relationships in host country...
