The technological leap of smart technologies and the Internet Things has advanced conventional model electrical power energy systems into a new digital era, widely known as Smart Grid. advent Grids provides multiple benefits, such self-monitoring, self-healing pervasive control. However, it also raises crucial cybersecurity privacy concerns that can lead to devastating consequences, including cascading effects with other critical infrastructures or even fatal accidents. This paper introduces...
This paper evaluates the performance of an automatic method for structural decomposition, noise removal and enhancement bowel sounds (BS), based on wavelet transform. The proposed combines multiresolution analysis with hard thresholding to compose a transform-based stationary-nonstationary (WTST-NST) filter, enhanced separation (BS) from superimposed noise. Quantitative qualitative experimental results, when applying WTST-NST filter BS recorded controls patients gastrointestinal dysfunction,...
Due to the increasing demand in data rates telecom operators are faced with question of when upgrade their access network infrastructure toward fiber-to-the-home (FTTH). In this paper a techno-economic study fiber-to-the-cabinet/very high bit rate digital subscriber line (FTTC/VDSL) and FTTH deployments is performed. The economics risks associated incumbent's decision invest dense urban areas analyzed using both discount cash flow (DCF) analysis real options (ROA). results revealed that case...
Abstract Fifth generation (5G) envisages a “hyperconnected society” with an enormous number of interconnected devices, anywhere and at any time. Edge computing plays pivotal role in this vision, enabling low latency, large traffic volumes, improved quality experience. The advent 5G edge encourages vertical industries to develop innovative services, which can meet the challenging demands coming from consumers. However, economic feasibility is ultimate factor that determines viability new...
Through the advanced coordination and orchestration realised within wider SESAME project concept, a new architecture has been defined proposed, aiming to attend several operators/service providers "engage" them in modern multi-tenant ecosystem, so that fully serve broader vision of 5G; particular, this takes place by emphasizing upon incorporation" network intelligence applications edge through NFV cloud computing promoting effective use Small Cell concept. This 5G-based context influences...
5G networks aims to tackle the complex demands of emerging business paradigms, such as Smart Cities, eHealth, and Industry 4.0. In this paper, a hierarchical, distributed-intelligence architecture is described, offering low latency, security, open access features intrinsic its design. SDN NFV principles are employed create networking solution applicable large number high-specification use case scenarios.
Abstract CHARISMA aims to tackle low‐latency and end‐to‐end security for converged fixed/wireless 5G networks in order meet the complex demands of emerging business paradigms, such as Smart Cities, eHealth Industry 4.0. In this paper, we present key drivers requirements towards a hierarchical, distributed‐intelligence architecture, supporting low latency, open access features intrinsic its design. We also investigate perspective proposed solution changes that can be foreseen telecom...
Passive optical networks (PONs) are being widely considered as a means to implement fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and deliver broadband access business home users. However, technical consequently regulatory economic complexities arise in light of their deployment. In this paper, an evaluation the prospects time division multiplexed (TDM) wavelength (WDM) PON architectures for FTTH deployments under different rollout conditions is performed, based on ECOSYS techno-economic methodology tool. The...
A system-of-systems (SoS) approach for wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) and time-division (TDM) fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) telecommunication networks is presented. Cost evolution curves individual systems as well whole FTTH WDM TDM are The analysis can be exploited a fast accurate of deployment costs in dense urban, suburban areas from the technoeconomic point view, which paramount importance telecom operators, equipment vendors, regulators, policy makers. impact delaying deployments or...
In this paper the cost for deployment of a PON FTTH network is calculated in terms NPV, IRR and payback period. A comparison made between three technologies: GPON, XGPON NG-PON2. Different scenarios regarding population density bitrates are examined. It shown that high data rate areas with NG-PON2 can become viable future proof alternative to GPON XGPON.
5G promises improved performance such as high data rate, low latency and increased reliability mainly through virtualization edge computing. It is also anticipated that systems will accommodate the increasing traffic demand stemming from machine-to-machine communications Internet of Things. Moreover, bring significant socio-economic benefits. In new era systems, players enter market while traditional be urged to transform their business models survive. Industry are competing for first...
The Cloud Enabled Small Cell (CESC) concept proposed in EU funded project SESAME has emerged as a promising solution to form multi-tenant, multi-service architecture at the network edge according 5G needs. It allows several operators/service providers engage sharing model of both radio access capacity and Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) capabilities. From business perspective, shared ecosystem guarantees benefits such easy system upgrades CAPEX/OPEX reduction. However, depending on adapted which...
A technoeconomic evaluation of the business prospects a wide-scale deployment free space optical (FSO) technology as last-mile solution is carried out. The based on tool that taking into account network topology, area characteristics, service demand, and price evolution forecasts, estimates key economic figures-of-merit. It shown FSO could provide viable alternative in situations where duct availability limited, fiber-to-the-home/office or fiber-to-the-cabinet scenarios have negative less...
The deployment of next generation access networks (NGAs) is investigated from technical, regulatory and investment perspectives. A brief review the possible network architectures scenarios NGAs provided. Risk calculations these NGA are performed based on a fully detailed techno-economic model. Furthermore, effectiveness European Commission's Recommendation regulated to NGAs, aiming tackle trade-off between encouraging investments promoting competition, discussed.
A techno economic analysis for a C-RAN architecture in Crowded Events (CE) offering immersive video services (IVS) is presented. The shows that investments an IVS CE relying on edge cloud resources are viable with expected payback period of 6.5 years.
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to show that fixed‐mobile convergence (FMC) has gathered much interest in the telecommunications industry lately. Integrated operators (who own both fixed and mobile networks), are keen exploit FMC benefits order save costs generate new revenues. This aims analyze effects converged network service environment on business existing telecommunication operators. Design/methodology/approach After an introduction regulatory, market, technology related issues...
We describe low end-to-end latencies of 6.69 ms in the 5G CHARISMA network, that has been optimised for both device and system technologies speed, as well with its virtualised, hierarchical distributed, edge-centric architecture, processes data near possible to their source destination. Such an ultra-high speed network can be utilised intelligent transport (ITS) applications, we a public bus-based use case takes advantage capabilities.
