This study presents the classification and prediction of severity for brittle rock failure, focusing on failure behaviors excessive determination based damage depth. The research utilizes extensive field survey data from Shuangjiangkou Hydropower Station previous findings. Based surveys studies, four types with different mechanisms are classified, then a method is proposed. incorporates two variables, i.e. Kv (modified mass integrity coefficient) GSI (geological strength index). applied to...
Rock-encased-backfill (RB) structures are common in underground mining, for example the cut-and-fill and stoping methods. To understand effects of cyclic excavation blasting activities on damage these RB structures, a series triaxial stepwise-increasing-amplitude loading experiments was conducted with cylindrical specimens (rock outside, backfill inside) different volume fractions rock (VF = 0.48, 0.61, 0.73, 0.84), confining pressures (0, 6, 9, 12 MPa), rates (200, 300, 400, 500 N/s). The...
Bedding rock slopes are common geological features in nature that prone to failure under strong earthquakes. Their failures induce catastrophic landslides and form barrier lakes, posing severe threats people's lives property. Based on the similarity criteria, a bedding slope model with length of 3 m, width 0.8 height 1.6 m was constructed facilitate large-scale shaking table tests. The results showed increase vibration time, natural frequency decreased, but damping ratio increased. Damage...
