In this, the first in a series of three papers concerning SuperCOSMOS Sky Survey (SSS), we give an introduction and user guide to survey programme. We briefly describe other wide-field surveys compare them with our own. examples data, make comparison accuracies various image parameters available those from providing similar data; show that SSS data base interface offer advantages over these surveys. Some science applications are also described some limitations discussed. The constitutes...

Linear alpha-olefins, such as 1-hexene and 1-octene, are important comonomers in the production of linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE). The conventional method producing 1-octene is by oligomerization ethylene, which yields a wide spectrum alpha-olefins (LAOs). While there exists several processes for via ethylene trimerization, similar route selective has so far been elusive. We now, first time, report an unprecedented tetramerization reaction that produces selectivities exceeding 70%,...

Cr(III) complexes of tridentate SNS ligands have been prepared and evaluated as catalysts for ethylene trimerization, with several giving very high activity excellent selectivity toward 1-hexene when activated methylaluminoxane. The new illustrate the potential sulfur-based on early transition metals catalysis.

We present the Macquarie/AAO/Strasbourg Hα Planetary Nebula Catalogue (MASH) of over 900 true, likely and possible new Galactic planetary nebulae (PNe) discovered from AAO/UKST survey southern plane. The combination depth, resolution, uniformity areal coverage has opened up a hitherto unexplored region parameter space permitting detection this significant PN sample. Away bulge PNe are typically more evolved, larger angular extent, lower surface brightness obscured (i.e. extinguished) than...

The unprecedented selective tetramerisation of ethylene to 1-octene was recently reported. In the present study various mechanistic aspects this novel transformation were investigated. unusually high selectivity in chromium-catalyzed reactions is caused by unique extended metallacyclic mechanism operation. Both and higher 1-alkenes are formed further insertion into a metallacycloheptane intermediate, whereas 1-hexene elimination from species as other reported trimerisation reactions. This...

Methylaluminoxane (MAO)-activated chromium(III) complexes of tridentate PNP and SNS ligands the form (R2PCH2CH2)2NR‘ (R = alkyl, aryl; R‘ H, Me, benzyl) (RSCH2CH2)2NH alkyl) have been prepared tested for trimerization ethylene to 1-hexene. The effect P or S donor substitution, nitrogen chelate ring size has examined. Sterically compact basic groups lead highest activities selectivities, while a secondary amine central is crucial high activity, raising possibility that deprotonation this...

In situ prepared chromium catalysts containing bulky diphosphinoamine (PNP) ligands, upon activation with MAO, are extremely efficient for the trimerisation of ethylene to 1-hexene.
