We report our experience with percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) in children, and evaluate its early late anatomical functional results.A total of 65 children renal calculi were treated PCNL. Patient age at operation ranged from 9 months to 16 years (mean +/- SD 5.9 0.9 years), 27 (41.5%) younger than 5 years. Seven patients had bilateral stones and, therefore, the number kidneys by PCNL was 72. The followed regularly every 3 during year 1 6 thereafter. Renal scans using technetium...
We studied the effect of suturing technique and impact urethral plate characteristics on complication rate following tubularized incised urethroplasty. We prospectively 80 boys (mean age 4.5 years, range 3 to 7) with primary hypospadias in a randomized fashion between January 2004 May 2005. Of patients 64 had anterior 16 mid penile hypospadias. Patients were allocated into 2 groups according suture technique, continuous sutures used 40 interrupted 40. evaluated depth, length width before...
Subureteral injection of bulking agents is an accepted surgical treatment vesicoureteral reflux in children. Polydimethylsiloxane, a silicone elastomer, ideal agent because bulky consistency, lack migration, minimal local inflammatory reaction and safe laboratory animals. We record our experience with endoscopic subureteral polydimethylsiloxane children for reflux.During 2-year period 16 boys 58 girls, average age 8 years, 112 refluxing ureters underwent to treat reflux. Vesicoureteral was...
To retrospectively review our experience of the tubularized incised-plate (TIP) urethroplasty over last 4 years. From 1998 to December 2001, 133 patients (mean age 7 years, sd 4, range 1-22), had a TIP by one surgeon for primary (103) and re-operative (30) hypospadias; defects included 106 (79%) distal mid-shaft, 27 (21%) posterior shaft. The neourethra was covered subcutaneous flap in 66 (50%) or corpus spongiosa (spongioplasty) 31 (23%), with no cover remaining 36 (27%). In 20 (15%)...
We sought to validate the role of serial ultrasound studies for detecting and excluding obstruction in high grade neonatal hydronephrosis.Between January 1996 December 1998 all patients with prenatally diagnosed hydronephrosis underwent a protocol antibiotic prophylaxis, voiding cystourethrography. All reflux-free diuretic renography. Patients isolated unilateral were included study. They followed 3 examinations every months year 1 life, biannually 2 yearly thereafter. The trends changes...

We evaluated the long-term results of visual internal urethrotomy for pediatric urethral strictures to evaluate efficacy and final outcome this procedure in children risk factors stricture recurrence. The computerized surgical records our hospital were reviewed identify who underwent between 1980 2001. Hospital followup clinical charts then reviewed. Many variables analyzed, including age, etiology, length site strictures, catheter duration. Only patients with a minimum 2 years included....
Purpose: To present our experience with ureteroscopy for the treatment of pediatric ureteral calculi. Patients and Methods: The records 32 children an average age 8.7 years (range 2–15 years) treated rigid between June 1994 July 2003 were reviewed. In 33 units, 8F was carried out 35 times to treat stone disease. Stones located in upper ureter 2 cases, middle lower 29 cases. Stone size ranged from 4 15 mm (mean 7 mm). Dilatation orifice necessary 10 procedures. Results: management (90.7%)...
Previous series showed controversial differential renal function outcomes after pyeloplasty in children. However, they were limited by study power, methodology and lack of comparable end points. We determined the status children what is to our knowledge largest date. After excluding patients with anomalies, solitary kidney or bilateral from analysis, we retrospectively identified 196 younger than 18 years who treated between May 2002 January 2010 had preoperative postoperative scintigraphy...
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the long‐term results of one‐stage perineal anastomotic urethroplasty for post‐traumatic paediatric urethral strictures. PATIENTS AND METHODS Thirty‐five boys who had a bulbous or posterior strictures between 1991 and 2003 were analysed retrospectively. Patients followed up mean (range) 46 (6–132) months by history, urinary flow rate estimate, retrograde urethrography voiding cysto‐urethrography. RESULTS The age patients was 11.9 (6–18) years. estimated radiographic...
Objective To retrospectively evaluate the outcome of artificial urinary sphincter (AUS) placement in 79 children, with a mean follow‐up 12.5 years. Patients and methods A total 89 children had an AUS placed between 1977 1994; complete data were obtained for (63 boys 16 girls). The indication was incontinence caused by sphincteric deficiency stable bladder. Before after surgery, all patients underwent ultrasonography, voiding cysto‐urethrography urodynamics. Logistic regression used to assess...
To develop a rabbit model to study the temporal healing taking place after an unstented tubularized incised plate urethroplasty (TIPU).The comprised 13 New Zealand white rabbits (3-4 kg); ventral wall of penile urethra was excised create hypospadias-like defect. A vertical incision made in dorsal urethral and tubularized. Two animals were killed at 2 days two 5 surgery, remainder 2, 6 12 weeks (three each). retrograde urethrogram taken autopsy. Serial sections penis stained with haematoxylin...

To assess the long-term results in children with high-grade renal trauma who were managed without surgery, as such treatment was initially successful but little is known about late ipsilateral function and morphology. The study included 13 (nine boys four girls; mean age 8 years, sd 5) injury surgery between 1997 2001, followed for a (sd, range) of 3 (2, 0.5-7) years. The caused by motor-car accident five falling from height eight children, on right 10 left three. There gross microscopic...
We developed a reproducible animal model for the induction of urethral stricture in rabbit and evaluated role halofuginone limiting formation.A total 20 New Zealand male rabbits were used first phase experiment. Bulbar was induced by electrocoagulation. The animals then randomly assigned to 2 groups 10 each, which received diet containing or normal diet. In second electrocoagulation treated with visual internal urethrotomy 45 rabbits. These groups, namely control group. In study (20%) vs...

We compared tunica vaginalis applied as a flap versus graft for covering defects in the ventral albuginea rabbit model. We used 18 New Zealand White rabbits study. The urethra was mobilized off of corpus cavernosum. A defect created aspect by excising 1 x 0.5 cm. rectangular area. covered testicular surface vascularized 9 animals and 9. At 2, 6 12-week intervals 3 per group were sacrificed. Transverse sections penis at repair site stained with hematoxylin eosin, Masson's trichrome...
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the use of commercially available single‐layer small intestinal submucosa (SIS) for urethral replacement, both as an onlay and a tube, in rabbit model. MATERIALS AND METHODS Thirty‐six male rabbits were assigned to four experimental groups. Group 1 had ventral wall penile urethra excised 15 mm; group 2 this created defect was patched with SIS graft; 3 complete excision mm segment urethra; 4, replaced tube graft. In all stented weeks. A retrograde urethrogram taken...
