We address a toll pricing problem in which the objective is to minimize number of required facilities transportation network while inducing drivers make most efficient collective use network. formulate as mixed-integer programming model and propose solution method using combinatorial Benders cuts. Computational study real networks well randomly generated indicates that our proposed obtaining provably optimal solutions for with small medium sizes.

Purpose Despite the widespread expectation that additive manufacturing (AM) will become a disruptive technology to transform spare parts supply chain, very limited research has been devoted quantitative modeling and analysis on how AM could fulfill on-demand supply. On other hand, choice of using as strategy over traditional inventory is rising decision faced by manufacturers requires for their AM-or-stock decisions. The purpose this paper develop performance model generic powder bed fusion...

We consider the problem of dispatching and relocating EMS vehicles during a medical emergency such as influenza outbreak when demand for increases. In order to better utilize vehicles' capacity based on our discussions with personnel, we assume that ambulances can serve more than patient where appropriate. Specifically, vehicle transporting high-priority cannot another until service has been completed. However, low-priority be rerouted pick up one patient. The objective is minimize total...

This article examines the problem of assigning individuals to teams make as similar possible each other across multiple attributes. may be complicated by a variety constraints, including restrictions on whether specific can or should assigned same team. The arises in contexts, youth recreation leagues and academic programs courses with mandated project groups. A model for is proposed various solution approaches are investigated, mixed-integer programming several heuristics. Supplementary...

We consider a special case of the vehicle routing problem where not only each customer has specified delivery time window, but route limited duration. propose solution algorithm using network reduction techniques and simulated annealing meta-heuristic. The objective is twofold: minimising travel total number vehicles required. time-window constraint ensures without delay, thus, potentially higher level satisfaction. helped transportation planning team at General Electric Appliances &...

Abstract The objective of the minimum toll revenue (MINREV) problem is to find tolls that simultaneously cause users use transportation network efficiently and minimize total revenues must be collected. This article investigates Dantzig‐Wolfe (DW) decomposition as an approach for solving MINREV establishes its relationships with a cutting plane algorithm other proposed approaches. also identifies variant DW most suitable implementation. Numerical experiments real networks suggest robust...

We propose a new game theoretical equilibrium model to analyze residential users' electricity consumption behavior in smart grid where energy usage and price data are exchanged between users utilities via advanced communication. Consideration is given possible preference on convenience over cost-saving under the real-time pricing grid, each user assumed have preferred time window for using particular appliance. As result, (player) proposed wishes maximize payoff or utility consisting of two...

Automated pavement survey (APS) systems (e.g. Laser Crack Measurement System) are increasingly adopted by transportation planners as a data-enriching and economical alternative to the traditional windshield (WPS) systems. Application arises where wish use APS measurements predict WPS distress scores, such prediction will enable them continue using WPS-based asset management system while newly collected data. In this paper, we develop machine learning model scores variables, employing...

In earlier work a toll pricing framework for congestion has been developed both fixed and elastic demand traffic assignment models as an alternative to traditional marginal social cost pricing. Within the it is possible define objectives such minimizing costs, number of booths, etc. This paper will report results recent computational experiments on methods designed various objectives.

Attempting to increase energy efficiency and improve system load factors in an electricity distribution system, Demand Response (DR) has long been proposed implemented as a form of management. Various pricing structures incentivizing consumers shift consumption from on-peak off-peak periods are evident this field. Most DR methods currently used practice belong static variable (e.g., Time Use, Critical Peak Pricing) the impact such tariffs well established. However, dynamic general is less...
