Free radicals have acquired growing importance in the fields of biology and medicine. They are produced during many different endogenous exogenous processes. Mitochondria main source reactive oxygen species (ROS) at cell level. The overproduction free can damage macromolecules such as nucleic acids, proteins lipids. This leads to tissue various chronic degenerative diseases. Antioxidants play a crucial role body’s defense against radicals. review concerns properties radicals, their sources...

Several hallmarks of metabolic syndrome, such as dysregulation in the glucose and lipid metabolism, endothelial dysfunction, insulin resistance, low-to-medium systemic inflammation, intestinal microbiota dysbiosis, represent a pathological bridge between syndrome diabesity, cardiovascular, neurodegenerative disorders. This review aims to highlight some therapeutic strategies against involving integrative approaches improve lifestyle daily diet. The beneficial effects foods containing...

Donkeys milk is the best substitute of human for its content in lactose, proteins, minerals, and ω-3 fatty acids. Here, we have evaluated effects colostrum from donkeys (Martina Franca breed) on function peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) at different intervals lactation. Colostrum induced more IgA responses, while predominantly IgG responses. Both expression CD25 CD69 PBMCs. The ability to induce release interleukins (IL) (IL-12, IL-1β IL-10) tumor necrosis factor-α was confined...

Abstract Background and aims Milk contains numerous nutrients. The content of n-3 fatty acids, the n-6/n-3 ratio, short- medium-chain acids may promote positive health effects. In Western societies, cow’s milk fat is perceived as a risk factor for because it source high fraction saturated acids. Recently, there has been increasing interest in donkey’s milk. this work, energetic value acidic composition milk, with reference to human nutrition, their variations during lactation, were...

Phenolic antioxidant intake is encouraged to prevent oxidative damage, and synergy considered an advantage in adding polyphenols from varied plants. This study investigated the synergistic interactions among olive leaf (OL), bay laurel (BL), rosemary (RL) powder mixture (LPM: OL + BL RL), using vitro chemical tests [TPC, ORAC, TEAC-ABTS, FRAP; combination index (CI)], vivo validation on blood status, metabolic profile, intestinal histomorphology laying hens. The indicated a whole higher...

In a group of 14 healthy aged subjects, donkey and goat milk was administered respectively, for period one month. Cytokine profile [interleukin (IL)-12, IL-10, IL-1β, IL-8, IL-6 Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF)-α] assessed before after intake by means cytometric bead array test. Data demonstrated that IL-12 undetectable, while IL-1β TNF-β were released in very low amounts. Quite interestingly, IL-8 increased administration, same cytokine dramatically decreased following intake. Same pattern...

Three experiments were conducted on Martina Franca jennies. Experiment 1 tested Wood's model for evaluating the lactation curve. Data from entire period of 12 jennies used. The results showed that was able to recognize shape curve pooled data (r2 = 0.11; P < 0.01), with peak occurring at 48 d. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a mixture olive, laurel, and rosemary leaf powders, on oxidative state, biochemical, immune, intestinal morphophysiological parameters, egg quality laying hens. One hundred Lohmann Brown hens (28 weeks old) were equally assigned two groups (n. 50) corresponding basal control diet (CON) or supplemented with 6 g/kg feed powder (LPM) containing leaves (1:1:1), for 60 days. Making cheese from donkey milk is considered unfeasible, due to difficulties in coagulation and curd forming. Two recent studies have reported the protocols for making fresh by using camel chymosin or calf rennet, but chemical sensory characteristics of products were not thoroughly investigated. The present paper aims give a further contribution field, investigating cheesemaking with microbial rennet evaluating composition, total fatty acid, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) profile...
