Three hundred thirty-five cases of acute mastoiditis with complications due to extension infection beyond the mastoid are reported. Two twenty-four those presented intracranial sepsis. Meningitis occurred in 83 cases, brain abscess 53, extradural 49 and lateral sinus thrombosis 39 cases. Intracranial frequently seen this group patients neglected otitis media. The children young adults (74%) an overall mortality rate 14%. was most common complication (37%); had highest (36%). from reduced...

We present a study on the effects of non-random mating and varying population size in genetic algorithm (GA) performance. tested two algorithms: non-incest with (niGAVaPS) negative assortative (nAMGAVaPS), royal road function. These algorithms mimic natural species behavior by selecting parents according to parenthood or phenotype similarity (nAMGAVaPS). show that both outperform simple GA example shown. The results suggest this may be due fact diversity is kept at higher level niGAVaPS...

This paper investigates the performance of 16 Large Language Models (LLMs) in automating LoRaWAN-related engineering tasks involving optimal placement drones and received power calculation under progressively complex zero-shot, natural language prompts. The primary research question is whether lightweight, locally executed LLMs can generate correct Python code for these tasks. To assess this, we compared run models against state-of-the-art alternatives, such as GPT-4 DeepSeek-V3, which...

Despite the intuition that same population size is not needed throughout run of an Evolutionary Algorithm (EA), most EAs use a fixed size. This paper presents empirical study on possible benefits Simple Variable Population Sizing (SVPS) scheme performance Genetic Algorithms (GAs). It consists in decreasing for GA following predetermined schedule, configured by speed and severity parameter. The method uses as initial estimation minimum to supply enough building blocks, using fixed-size...

The indications for operation were intractable vasomotor rhinitis, resistant allergic rhinitis recurrent nasal polyposis. Two hundred fifty-eight contacted long-term results showed that 88 per cent of the had an excellent result.

Artificial life models, swarm intelligent and evolutionary computation algorithms are usually built on fixed size populations. Some studies indicate however that varying the population can increase adaptability of these systems their capability to react changing environments. In this paper we present an extended model artificial ant colony system designed evolve digital image habitats. We will show adapt according type which it is evolving reacting faster images, thus converging more rapidly...

In this paper we introduce a new ant-based method that takes advantage of the cooperative self-organization Ant Colony Systems to create naturally inspired clustering and pattern recognition method. The approach considers each data item as an ant, which moves inside grid changing cells it goes through, in fashion similar Kohonen's Self-Organizing Maps. resulting algorithm is conceptually more simple, less free parameters than other algorithms, and, after some parameter tuning, yields very...

Our experience with 18 cases of juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (jna) over a period 9 years is discussed. All were managed surgically: 17 via transpalatal approach and one case by combined transpalatal, lateral rhinotomy, transantral approach. In this series there two recurrences following primary surgical procedures these required second procedure. There no major complications all patients are alive. We believe that excision should be the treatment choice for jna radiotherapy used...

Over these kind of over changing, complex and ubiquitous real-world problems, explorative-exploitive subtle counterbalance character our current state-of-the-art search algorithms should be biased towards an increased explorative behavior. Only 29 have so far been reported literature (Illum and Nehen, 1980). Case one had right-sided combined laryngopyocele case left-sided laryngocele. Both our their lesions excised via external approach, as described by Yarington Frazer (1966), having bilateral excision.
