This article examines the state of nonprofit and philanthropic studies doctoral education using several data sources: PhD student surveys, faculty number articles published in academic journals, completed dissertations studies. contributes to literature by capturing overall trends education, while asking fundamental questions about education—particularly coherence knowledge production. It presents implications for both our understanding current education—where we are—and where field may be headed.
