We aimed evaluate relationship between an emphasis on difference. Methods Forty‐three without arthritis 41 healthy controls were enrolled. All <50 years, women premenopausal. Participants questioned about...
There are a few studies showing an increased risk of insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, and oxidative stress in patients with vitiligo. To investigate whether systemic inflammation is vitiligo case-control study design.Nonsegmental who had been followed at the outpatient dermatology clinic university-affiliated teaching hospital, healthy controls were enrolled study. Patients receiving treatments having disease such as diabetes mellitus thyroiditis excluded. Demographic features recorded...
Patients with psoriasis have increased systemic inflammation and serum uric acid (SUA) levels compared the general population. However, role of SUA in modulating these patients is not known. We evaluated associations severity; 199 54 healthy volunteers were included study. Demographic features, Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI) scores, laboratory data including SUA, C-reactive protein (CRP), neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) collected. had higher fasting blood glucose, body mass index...
Herpes zoster (HZ) is a common disease characterized by the recurrence of varicella zoster, that stays dormant in sensory ganglia. The primary goal this study was to compare efficiencies famciclovir, valaciclovir, and brivudine terms pain relief HZ patients. Records patients who were admitted Dermatology Clinic our hospital due acute between years 2012 2014 retrospectively analyzed. Treatment decisions at discretion caring physicians as valaciclovir (VACV), famciclovir (FCV), (BRV) based on...
Objective: Although various treatment options have been used in the of lichen planus (LP), it is still challenging to choose most effective one. Scarce data are available literature examining efficacy NB-UV LP. Thus, we aimed evaluate NB-UVB for LP.Methods: Twenty-four patients with generalized LP who received treatments between January 2011 and December 2014 were included study. Response types classified into three groups which complete response refers ≥90% reduction number lesions; partial...
Eruptive xanthoma (EX) is a very rare dermatosis mostly occurring due to high levels of serum triglycerides or uncontrolled diabetes mellitus. When EX encountered, it important keep in mind that could be sign severe underlying metabolic derangements. Early recognition can help avoid serious complications such as pancreatitis. After treatment the disorders, lesions disappear without leaving scars. We present case 55-year-old woman who presented with solely and was eventually diagnosed...
Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms (DRESS) syndrome, also known as drug-induced hypersensitivity syndrome (DHIS), is an acute, potentially life-threatening disease that includes skin rash, fever, haematological abnormalities multiorgan involvement. Although its aetiopathogenesis not exactly known, it thought inefficient drug detoxification leading to the accumulation of reactive metabolites causes autoimmune responses in some internal organs, alters immune induces...
Abstract Background Several cutaneous findings are seen in dialysis dependent chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients. However, there only a few small studies on predialysis CKD We aimed to determine Methods This was cross‐sectional study. Consecutive patients from nephrology outpatient clinic university affiliated hospital were recruited this Detailed dermatologic examination performed by senior dermatologist. Blood urea, creatinine, hepatitis B surface antigen and C antibody test studied for...
A few previous case reports related vitamin and retinoid use with elevated serum uric acid (SUA) levels. Recently, a population based study showed an independent positive correlation of retinol SUA Despite increasing importance in number disease states, no has examined the association between retinoids SUA. We aimed to evaluate effect pharmacologic dose isotretinoin on level. This was cohort which 51 consecutive adult patients severe acne vulgaris who were prescribed oral treatment (0.5...
To determine the role of glutathione S-transferase (GST) isoenzyme polymorphisms as susceptibility factors in patients with psoriasis a Turkish cohort. In this case-control study, 105 plaque-type and 102 healthy controls were recruited from dermatology outpatient clinics two university hospitals. Genomic DNA was extracted whole blood using DZ isolation kit. Multiplex PCR used to GSTM1 GSTT1 isolated DNAs.Of 150 psoriasis, 83 (79%) identified genotype 22 (21%) null genotype. Of control group,...
Abstract In patients with vitiligo, the clinical and laboratory features of disease may vary according to time onset. This is addressed in literature by only a few studies conflicting results. The aim this study was determine demographic non‐segmental vitiligo establish association between autoimmune diseases focus on A total 224 for whom complete medical records were available evaluated retrospectively. Demographic data, scores Vitiligo Area Score Index ( VASI ), features, activity,...
Abstract Background We aimed to evaluate if psoriasis associated with restless legs syndrome (RLS) due its close relationship metabolic disorders. Methods This was a cross‐sectional study in which the between RLS and evaluated. Seventy consecutive patients 70 controls without any skin disorder were included this study. Data including age, gender, body weight, height, Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI) scores recorded. Diagnosis of established using International Study Group (IRLSSG)...

Milia-like idiopathic calcinosis cutis (MICC) is a very rare dermatological disorder characterized by multiple whitish to skin colored, milia-like papules, mostly found on the hands. MICC can disappear spontaneously adulthood; therefore, its early recognition crucial avoiding unnecessary interventions. Herein, we present case of in 6-year-old girl with Down syndrome.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM), inflammatory bowel disease, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and multiple sclerosis (MS) are some of the autoimmune diseases related to decreases in Vitamin D levels. The same immunological properties as psoriasis, such Th1/Th2 dysregulation, seen all them. This study aims compare 25-hidroksi (25-OHD) serum concentrations patients with psoriasis psoriatic arthritis. This includes 91 outpatients; 48 these were chosen...
Dear Editor, A 43-year-old woman presented with erythematous, hyperkeratotic papules, and plaques on her palms soles for 2 years [Figure 1a b]. Palmoplantar lichen planus (PPL) is an uncommon type of (LP) that exclusively affects the palms and soles. We report a case 50-year-old man who had palmoplantar hyperkeratotic papules plaques. The patient was diagnosed as PPL by skin biopsy, treated with acitretin. He showed good response to acitretin within 2 months. Clinical appearance some features may differ from classic LP. Acitretin be favourable treatment option for PPL.
Prolidase deficiency (PD) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder that has symptoms such as skin ulcers, characteristic facies, mental retardation, skeletal deformities, hematological anomalies, splenomegaly, and chronic infections. Deficiency of prolidase leads to the increased excretion proline in urine, which causes impaired collagen synthesis delay wound healing. This case reports 40-year-old female who had cutaneous ulcers since age 7 years. We also recognized borderline intellectual...

Superficial cutaneous vascular lesions (SCVLs) are quite common. Several types of lasers have been used to treat these lesions; however, there no dedicated treatment guidelines and few studies in the literature addressed their treatment. In this paper, we aimed report our clinical experience with potassium titanyl phosphate (KTP) laser on different facial SCVLs including telangiectasia, spider angioma, erythema.Data were retrospectively collected from 146 patients SCVLs, who had treated...
