To report a case of patient infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) who acutely developed hypokinetic-rigid syndrome.Patient data were obtained from medical records the Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre in Madrid, Spain. [123I]-ioflupane dopamine transporter (DaT) SPECT images acquired 4 hours after single dose 185 MBq 123I-FP-CIT. Quantitative analysis was performed DaTQUANT software providing specific binding ratio and z score values striatum.We...
We analyzed the frequency of cognitive impairment (CI) in deceased COVID-19 patients at a tertiary hospital Spain. Among 477 adult cases who died after admission from March 1 to 31, 2020, 281 had confirmed COVID-19. CI (21.1% dementia and 8.9% mild impairment) was common comorbidity. Subjects with were older, tended live nursing homes, shorter time symptom onset death, rarely admitted ICU, receiving palliative care more often. is frequent comorbidity subjects associated differences care.
Biomarker-informed criteria were proposed for the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease (AD) by National Institute on Aging and Association (NIA-AA) in 2011; however, adequacy this has not been sufficiently evaluated.
ABSTRACT Introduction Little is known about the relation of cognitive impairment (CI) to COVID-19 mortality. Here, we analyse frequency CI in deceased patients. Methods We included 477 adult cases that died after admission from March 1 31, 2020: 281 with confirmed COVID-19, 58 probable and 138 who other causes. Results The number comorbidities was high common (30%: 21.1% dementia; 8.9% mild impairment). Subjects were older, more lived nursing homes had shorter times symptom onset death than...
In the last few years, SORL1 gene has been strongly implicated in development of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). We performed whole-exome sequencing on 37 patients with early-onset dementia or family history suggestive autosomal dominant dementia. Data analysis was based a custom panel that included 46 genes related to AD and variants were present high proportion candidate (15%, 3/20). expand clinical manifestations associated by reporting detailed neuroimaging findings six unrelated mutations....
Neuroinflammation is a common feature in Alzheimer’s (AD) and Parkinson’s (PD) disease. In the last few decades, testable hypothesis was proposed that protein-unfolding events might occur due to neuroinflammatory cascades involving alterations crosstalk between glial cells neurons. Here, we tried clarify pattern of two most promising biomarkers neuroinflammation cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) AD PD. This study included cognitively unimpaired elderly patients, patients with mild cognitive...
To assess the feasibility and effects on manual dexterity quality of life (QoL) a 12-week home calligraphic training program in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD).
Cerebral amyloid angiopathy-related inflammation (CAA-ri) is an entity characterised by inflammatory response to β-amyloid deposition in the walls of cerebral microvessels. We conducted a retrospective review series patients with diagnosis CAA-ri according histopathological study findings or clinical-radiological diagnostic criteria. The included 7 (5 men) mean age 79 years. Disease onset was acute subacute 6 patients. most frequent symptoms were cognitive impairment (n = 6), behavioural...

Abstract Background The SORL1 gene encodes a type‐I transmembrane protein termed sortilin‐related receptor (SorLA). SorLA regulates the intracellular transport and processing of amyloid precursor in neurons, therefore, it has been implicated pathogenesis Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Several mutations have described as risk factor for AD, especially rare missense non‐coding variants. To date, there are no reports nonsense homozygosis. Also, relationship between cerebral angiopathy (CAA) is not...
