Two outstanding aerospace-oriented high-temperature materials, the single-crystal nickel-based superalloys for high-pressure turbine blades and γ-TiAl-based alloys low pressure blades, are being presented here. In both cases, optimisation of their mechanical properties is based on a high knowledge metallurgy, mixing together different aspects such as processes, alloy design, deformation mechanisms, impact oxidative environment or interaction between protective layers protected alloy....

In this Communication, it is shown that the production of turbine blades in γ-TiAl alloys through Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) a viable manufacturing route, by demonstrating near-net shaping successful, and developing an alloy with balanced outstanding mechanical properties at room high temperatures single run without subsequent thermal treatments.

Powder consolidation assisted by pulsed current and uniaxial pressure, namely, Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS), is increasingly popular. One limitation however lies in the difficulty of controlling sample temperature during compaction. The aim this work to present a computational method for assembly based on finite elements (FEM). Computed temperatures have been compared with experimental data three different dies filled materials electrical conductivities (TiAl, SiC, ). results obtained are...

Abstract An in situ study of twinning a TiAl alloy has been performed order to determine twin properties and discuss the processes controlling propagation. This shows that is due a/6⟨112] partial dislocations gliding octahedral planes an intensive mode deformation for some specimen orientations. Twins move slowly at approximately constant velocity by collective movement which are separated distance during motion. perfect. A polar source analysed. Abstract An in situ study of prismatic glide beryllium is made to provide a simple model for understanding the anomalous increase elastic limit as function temperature. This effect also observed several ordered alloys such superalloys. In this paper, Part I, mechanism controlling deformation studied at stress peak temperature (300 K). It consists alternate cross-slip events between basal and plane, leading 'locking-unlocking' which detail. new appears be variant Peierls mechanism, where...

Abstract Ni3Ga single crystals oriented parallel to the [123] direction were deformed in range of yield stress anomaly. Successive deformations have also been performed at different temperatures on same specimen. The substructure dislocations (111) plane has observed by weak-beam microscopy. screw are Kear-Wilsdorf configuration and contain many superkinks, shape which analysed.
