One of the main problems in quantitative analysis complex samples by x-ray fluorescence is related to interelemental (or matrix) effects.These effects appear as a result interactions among sample elements, affecting emission intensity non-linear manner.Basically, two occur; absorption and enhancement.The combination these can lead serious problems.Many studies have been carried out proposing mathematical methods correct for effects.Basic concepts correction are discussed here.
