Harvested bee pollen is valuable for its nutritional value and healthy properties. This work relates the botanical origin of sixteen pollens from Chile with their phenolic, protein carotenoid content, antioxidant/antibacterial activities. Our results showed that chemical properties different are associated plant’ species which each one was derived from. Some correlations between were observed. Bee 20.0- 30.4% protein, 2.8-50.2 mg/kg carotenoids, 22.8-918.4 phenolics, 4.51-91.19 mmol Fe+2/kg...

ABSTRACT Neonicotinoids are a relatively new generation of insecticides that have been used for control pests such as aphids, leafhoppers and whiteflies. This paper presents the first time determination residues four neonicotinoid (acetamiprid, thiamethoxam, thiacloprid imidacloprid) in Chilean honey using QuEChERS extraction UHPLC-MS/MS analysis. The limits detection quantification found all analytes ranging from 0.34 to 1.43 μg kg-1 0.30 4.76 kg-1, respectively. method provided recoveries...

Monofloral Ulmo honey is a very appreciated product in the international market but more information needed order to support their health properties. Total phenolic and flavonoid contents, antioxidant capacity antibacterial activity of monofloral (Eucryphia cordifolia) samples were determined. The contained between 176 208 mg gallic acid eq (GAE)/100 g for total content (TPC) 43–90 Quercetin eq/100 (TFC). ranged 91 152 mM Trolox/g 28–49 DPPH ABTS assays, respectively. All extracts from...

Abstract Propolis has been proposed as a polyphenolic‐rich natural product potentially able to be used for human consumption or even medicinal proposes. To guarantee minimum phenolic and flavonoid content consequence of their related‐biological activities, international requirements propolis quality are commonly applied. In this work we assessed contents ; the antioxidant capacity (toward peroxyl radicals hypochlorous acid); ability generate nitric oxide (NO); and, finally antimicrobial...

The present study investigated the antioxidant potential and ability to inhibit lipid protein oxidation in bovine meat of four native Chilean species: canelo (Drimys winteri), nalca (Gunnera tinctoria), tiaca (Caldcluvia paniculata), ulmo (Eucryphia cordifolia). Phenolic acids (gallic, chlorogenic, caffeic, coumaric) flavonoids (catechin, epicatechin, rutin) were identified quantified by HPLC-MS/MS. Drimys winteri extract exhibited highest capacity evaluated oxygen radical absorption...

Abstract Intra-amniotic infection with Candida species is an uncommon but severe condition high fetal morbimortality and no established clinical guidelines for its management. We report a albicans intra-amniotic diagnosed in 25-week pregnant woman, successfully treated high-dose liposomal amphotericin B. Pregnancy was prolonged until 30 weeks, despite persistently positive cultures amniotic fluid, healthy newborn delivered without evidence of systemic infection. Amphotericin concentration...
