This review addresses the production of nano-particles and processing particles injected in atmospheric pressure electrical discharges (APED). The mechanisms formation evolution suspended gases are first presented, with numerical experimental facilities. Different APED related properties then introduced for dc corona, streamer spark filamentary (FD), as well ac homogeneous dielectric barrier (DBD). Two particle depicted APED: when FD interact surface electrodes or dielectrics DBD induce...
This work addresses the case of millimetre sized plane-to-plane dielectric barrier discharge with sinusoidal voltage between 1 and 60 kHz for different configurations in air at atmospheric pressure. The first aim this is to achieve a representative statistical analysis electrical characteristics microdischarges. The numerical data treatment presented here, enables determine maximum current, duration, amount charge, triggering each current pulse. Both average values as well deviations are...
Abstract This paper reports on the deposition of organic coatings flat substrates using atmospheric pressure plasma systems. Special attention will be paid use liquid monomer as precursor, injected directly into region, or in post‐discharge. We also present an original technology that combines a dielectric barrier discharge and electrohydro dynamic atomisation (EHDA) system to deposit well‐defined polyacrylic acid films. The advantage such is possibility limit extent fragmentation give rise...
The paper focuses on applications of atmospheric pressure plasmas (dc corona, streamer, spark and ac dielectric barrier discharges (DBDs)) in aerosol processes for materials environment.
Abstract We present a route for grafting polyacid and polyether coatings on polymers by post‐discharge polymerization of liquid vinyl monomer. Surface modifications polymer films Micro‐Discharges in air Dielectric Barrier Discharge (MD, DBD) are depicted with sub‐micrometer craters homogeneously distributed. Both the energy per MD power density critical to avoid thermal film deformation. Homogeneous surface composition is related DBD density. The mechanism from yields versus time exposure...
The plasma-based aerosol process developed for the direct coating of particles in gases with silicon oxide a continuous chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is presented. It shown that non-thermal plasma filaments induced dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) at atmospheric pressure trigger post-DBD gas phase reactions. DBD operating conditions are first scanned to produce ozone and dinitrogen pentoxide. In selected conditions, these species react gaseous tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) precursor...
A novel type of inorganic fullerene-like nanoparticle has been synthesized, presenting the unique structure a closed, nested nanobox. These nanoparticles consist WS2, and are obtained by spray pyrolysis (NH4)2WS4 solutions at high temperature. The exhibit shoebox shape rectangular parallelepiped possess hollow core surrounded walls made up stacked WS2 layers.
We use 1 mm plane to configurations, with or without dielectric barriers, on metallic electrodes investigate the ac electric precipitation of charged submicronic particles controlled electrical mobility injected in a laminar flow. The collection efficiency is calculated from concentration measurements for different voltages. Below air ionization threshold, experimental and theoretical efficiencies are consistent. Above current increase frequency voltage related number microdischarges per...
Deposition of poly(acrylic acid) films has been carried out in air by electrohydrodynamic atomization post dielectric barrier discharge at atmospheric pressure. The topmost surface layer the coatings analyzed X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, revealing a high level retention carboxylic acid functionality, up to 80%. These are found exhibit low water contact angle and resistance washing.
Ions densities and mobilities in post-dielectric barrier discharge (post-DBD) are presented here. To extract ions from DBD perform post-discharge measurements the best functioning conditions low overpressure, high frequency (⩾25 kHz, to avoid electrocollection) flow rate (1 lpm, reduce dilution). Besides, increase with electrode temperature and, at rates, number of filaments by time surface unit (controlled voltage fixed frequency). In both cases, reinforcement dielectric material...
In this article a numerical method for an electrical data treatment which is aimed to define the key parameters monitoring thermal and chemical properties of gas discharges, in particular dielectric barrier discharges presented. Numerous characterize discharges: pulses onset voltage, pulse number, height, width, power injected discharge cell, etc. Our using Matlab® allows us get such data, as shown present point-to-plane discharge. Moreover it shows how separation between different...
The paper highlights applications of some atmospheric pressure plasmas (dc-corona, streamer and spark ac-Dielectric Barrier Discharges) to aerosol processes for Materials Environment (filtration, diagnostics). production vapor i.e. condensable gaseous species, leads nano-sized particles by physical chemical routes nucleation in these AP plasmas: (i) when dc filamentary discharges as well ac dielectric barrier interact with metal or surfaces, (ii) induce reactions precursors volume. It is...
