Cholesteric liquid crystals exhibit the characteristics of photonic with a bandgap. A defect-mode cholesteric crystal module was assembled in this study, and laser dye gold nanoparticles are mixed into module. With help localized surface plasmon effect induced by nanoparticles, fluorescence significantly enhanced at both band edges defect spectrum dip.
