Nowadays, many manufacturers and organizations are successfully transitioning to Industry 4.0 by realizing the advantages of digitized manufacturing adapting highly data-driven automated processes, which enable them deliver improved services products customers. Yet, human factor seems not be considered adequately in processes. Neglecting humans a complex system such as will have impacts on performance system's ability function safely. This work explores impact error considering deployment an...
Decisions about modeling and simulation (M&S) of real-world systems need to be evaluated prior implementation. Discrete Event, System Dynamics, Agent Based are three different approaches widely applied enhance decision-making M&S these systems. Combining and/or integrating methods can provide solutions a plethora systems’ problems. However, current frameworks do not guidance for selecting deploying models. Hence, the aim this work is present generic framework combining approaches....
This paper empirically examines the relationship between Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and economic growth conducting a panel data analysis for period of 20 years (1989~2008) in three different country groups: European Union member-countries, Monetary countries transition. These groups differ many dimensions, one which is their degree integration. In contrast to theoretical work that tends suggest FDI inflows have positive effect on growth, we do not find robust causality growth.
COVID-19 is a rapidly changing pandemic that requires different mitigation strategies to maintain clinical preventive services, including vaccination. Countries around the world have started administering authorised vaccines. However, number of positive cases remains at high levels. This paper simulates transmission over time using hybrid simulation model, consisting agent-based and discrete event approaches. The model allows simulating spread virus under various parameters, such as hospital...
Research on task analysis and human performance has focused the development of adequate tools, models, methods to understand, analyze, improve relationship between humans systems. As technology continues advance change nature work, techniques are changing meet new needs. This work attempts fill gaps in current tools describes architecture a simulation model, named UTASiMo. UTASiMo is tool that aims enhance by automatically generating multi-method model for well-defined tasks based...
Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) is a research field dedicated to understanding, designing, evaluating and improving the communication between human robot. Technological progress in fields, such as artificial intelligence, computer science, speech simulation, image processing, remote controls, has led advances robotic technology [1]. robot can be separated into two general categories: remote, where are space or time, proximate, may found same location [2]. These categories further distinguished...
Research on Human-Robot Interaction is dedicated to understanding, designing, evaluating and improving the communication between humans robots. Our present study reports development of an intelligent autonomous robot (CERBERUS). Cerberus that performs face skeleton recognition. Evaluation recognition capabilities are reported. The results were used improve system's performance increase situation awareness enhance human-robot interaction.
The availability of large data and immense improvements in technology have extended the modeling capabilities. As intricacy simulated systems has been increasing, challenges process also emerged due to complexities hidden different levels system. purpose this paper is initiate design a framework for extrapolating hybrid simulation model, composed agent-based system dynamics models, from its model-based architecture designed using Systems Modeling Language (SysML). recognized as complex...
Introduction High prevalence of RET p.Gly533Cys (c.1597G > T) has been found in familial MTC Greece (exon 8 fMTC). We studied their origin and compared clinical characteristics with non-exon fMTC. Methods 102 fMTC (FMTC MEN2A) patients (31.4% males) were followed for 2.9–37 years (median 6 years). Fifty-one carried the exon mutation; remaining (exons 10, 11, 13, 14). Pre-, post-operative calcitonin, disease extent at diagnosis follow-up families’ place recorded. Results Exon older (42.3 ±...
Over the last decades there has been a growing interest in modeling human performance and analyzing activity operator behavior to improve system design. A variety of tools approaches which are based on task analysis methods have proposed. As technology advances tasks become more demanding, work changes increasing need create new methodologies for face challenges. The main aim this research is develop framework model simulation performed by individuals with varying levels skills, considering...
Robotic systems are currently going through changes at an unprecedented pace. Although the final goal of robotic will necessarily focus on real world robots, it is often useful to perform simulation prior investigation with actual robots. Modeling and Simulation applications enable evaluation different system designs implementation. The present work provides a Multi-Method study human-robot environment for face skeleton detection. divided in three areas that include: i) development user...
Abstract Purpose To evaluate whether there is an association between age at menarche (AAM) and the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Methods A retrospective cohort study was conducted, including 5390 pregnant women who were screened for GDM Alexandra Hospital in Athens, Greece over a 15-year period (2000–2014). Maternal age, pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI), height, family history type 2 mellitus, parity, educational smoking status, AAM recorded. The results expressed as odds...
This paper describes the system dynamics architecture of UTASiMo, a simulation-based task analysis tool that simulates outcomes for design and estimates execution times, workload, human error probability. UTASiMo combines discrete event, agent-based, simulation methods to automatically construct simulate models correspond different scenarios test prospective designs. Here, we focus on model, which captures causal relationships factors affecting uses them assess overall probability simulated...
Serious games have been steadily increasing their use in many sectors of society, yet it seems that a true killer app remains elusive. This paper will review some existing game based efforts and explore what the research development community is doing to bring engines more into mainstream society. It authors'' view three major impediments must be worked on creating ''killer app'' are related culture, validity, business models. Culture meant encompass generational issues between users...
Hepatitis C is a viral infection (HCV) that causes liver inflammation, and it was found affects over 170 million people around the world, with Egypt having highest rate in world. Unfortunately, serial biopsies, which can be invasive, expensive, risky, inconvenient to patients, are typically used for diagnosis of fibrosis progression. This study presents development, validation, evaluation prediction mathematical model non-invasive chronic HCV. The proposed this article uses set nonlinear...
Public sentiment can impact the implementation of public policies and even cause policy failure if support is not received. Therefore, knowledge concerning new emerging critical for policymakers. During coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, several precautionary measures have been suggested in an attempt to delay or mitigate spread virus. This study presents a framework that applies natural language processing (NLP) techniques, such as bigram analyses, characterize on three prominent...
In this paper, we examine the correlation between budget and growth forecast errors of Greek Government, during last decade. We explore if these are result fiscal performance, economic conditions, or other qualitative characteristics policy reform. We try to explain whether biased macroeconomic forecasts were responsible for forecasts.Besides, investigate role business consumers expectations, election process financial aid disbursements following positive reviews conclude that governance...
