The inoculation of cyanobacteria for enriching soil nutrients and forming biological crusts (BSCs) is considered an effective means to restore degraded soil. However, there are limited studies on the application co-inoculation fungi remediation. In this study, a high exopolysaccharide-secreting Zh2 was isolated from lichen BSCs in Hobq Desert, co-inoculated with cyanobacterial strain identified as Phormidium tenue different proportions form sand during 35 days incubation period. Results...

Artificial photosynthesis for producing high-value hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) using carbon nitride-based systems holds immense potential. However, understanding the charge transfer dynamics in homojunction photocatalysts remains a significant challenge owing to limitations of current characterization techniques. Here, polymeric C3N5/C3N4 (CNHJ) is employed as model system probe interfacial electron transfer. Bimetallic cocatalysts serve sensitive probes, enabling situ tracking S-scheme between...

Physical conditioners or skeleton builders are usually used to improve the dewaterability of sewage sludge. In this study, low-cost rice husk (RH) was evaluated as an alternative builder and combined with Fe2+ sodium persulfate (SPS) for sludge conditioning. The results show that conditioned RH Fe2+/SPS showed good dewaterability, capillary suction time reduced by 92.8% under optimal conditions. With use response surface methodology, composite conditioner concentrations were 151.5 mg/g dry...

Red mud (RM), which is a byproduct of alumina refining, typically stored in landfills. This study investigated the capability RM combined with steel slag to improve sludge dewatering performance. When dosage was 20 mg/g, HCl/RM ratio 0.6, and 3 mg/g DS, exhibited good conditioning as pH filtrate approached neutrality. This result indicates that coagulation by Fe 3+ Al critical acts neutralizer skeleton builder. Thus, four mechanisms were proposed for sewage conditioning.First, generated from...

Abstract This study investigated the effects of electro-dewatering on subsequent low-temperature drying at various potentials and characteristics air-drying sludge were explored through experiments multi-physical modeling. Experimental results showed that extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) content in was reduced during process, even species organic matter changed, as well dewatered cake tend to form many seepage channels, crack a certain number holes. These changes properties structure...

Microplastics (MPs) at certain concentrations accumulate in sewage sludge (SS), and their effects on the pyrolysis process, which is a demonstrated treatment technology, are rarely reported. Three typical MPs, polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), were studied. This study investigated characteristics gaseous products of co-pyrolysis SS MPs by using thermogravimetry-mass spectrometry (TG-MS). The SS-MP blended biochar samples also results indicated that performance...
