Located on the Iberian Mediterranean coast, El Collado is an open-air site where a rescue excavation was conducted over two seasons in 1987 and 1988. The archaeological work excavated surface area of 143m2 14 burials were discovered, providing skeletal remains from 15 individuals. We have obtained AMS dates for 10 individuals by means direct dating human bones. ranges probability distribution calibrated suggest that cemetery used during long period time (781–1020 years at 95.4%). new...
In September 2005, an accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) system based on a 1MV Tandetron arrived at the Centro Nacional de Aceleradores (CNA). One of main research programs for this AMS facility is radiocarbon. At same time as was installed and tested, 14 C sample preparation laboratory designed set up. A graphitization line that allows 5 samples in parallel built October 2006. The first months were mainly dedicated to check optimize all processing. For such task, several reference have...
The Mexico City Metropolitan Area (MCMA) produces a complex mixture of gases and aerosols from diverse sources, including burning fossil fuels, biomass, wastes, with significant biogenic contribution. We present the first results ongoing projects to study temporal spatial variations 14 CO 2 in area. Temporal reconstructed tree rings Taxodium mucronatum indicate considerable radiocarbon depletion, accordance vast amount fuels burnt inside Valley, values between 62 246‰ lower than background...
Five potential additives, three zeolites and two silicates, have been studied for reducing the amount of compounds generated when smoking Heet tobacco. Pyrolysis-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry experiments (Py-GC/MS) show that this type tobacco generates large amounts nicotine glycerol such as phenol, acetaldehyde, acetone formaldehyde are classified harmful components potentially (HPHC). USY SBA-15 additives present major reductions in inert oxidative atmosphere, being these greater...

The radiocarbon variation for northwestern Mexico during the period 1950–2004 was studied by accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) and liquid scintillation counting (LSC) analyses of tree rings. Two tree-ring sequences Pseudotsuga menziesii, sampled in a site isolated from urban centers active volcanoes (26.18°N, 106.3°W, 3000 m asl), were dendrochronologically dated separated annual rings prior to 14 C analysis. Results obtained show similar profile values reported Northern Hemisphere (NH),...
Abstract We present radiocarbon ( 14 C) in tree rings from Mexico City and a reconstruction of fossil CO 2 concentrations for the last five decades, as part research program to understand C dynamics this complex urban area. Background values were established by nearby clean Agreement between background NH-zone indicate Taxodium mucronatum is good biomonitor annual atmospheric variations. Values significantly lower than values, indicating depletion emissions. There an increasing trend 1960...
