Global resources of heavy Rare Earth Elements (REE) are dominantly sourced from Chinese regolith-hosted ion-adsorption deposits in which the REE inferred to be weakly adsorbed onto clay minerals. Similar elsewhere might provide alternative supply for these high-tech metals, but adsorption mechanisms remain unclear and state clays has never been demonstrated situ. This study compares mineralogy speciation economic weathering profiles China prospective regoliths developed on peralkaline rocks...

GPS and low-cost INS sensors are widely used for positioning attitude determination applications. Low-cost inertial exhibit large errors that can be compensated using position velocity updates from GPS. Combining both a Kalman filter provides high-accuracy, real-time navigation. A conventional relies on the correct definition of measurement process noise matrices, which generally defined priori remain fixed throughout processing run. Adaptive filtering techniques use residual sequences to...

Garnets from skarns in the Beinn an Dubhaich granite aureole, Isle of Skye, Scotland, have a large range concentrations uranium (0·2–358 ppm) and rare earth elements (REE) (23–4724 ppm). Variations these correlate with major element zonation within garnets, changes shape REE patterns. Typical patterns most garnets display light (LREE) enrichment, flat heavy (HREE) distribution negative Eu anomaly. These are interpreted to represent equilibrium trace exchange between pre-existing pyroxene,...

Abstract Heavy rare earth elements (HREE) are dominantly mined from the weathering crusts of granites in South China. Although processes occur globally, no economic HREE resources this type have yet been found outside Here, we report occurrence unidentified REE minerals Chinese deposits. They contain high levels both and light REE, but strongly depleted Ce, implying oxidation state. These show higher initial Nd isotope than primary REE-rich ( ɛ Nd( t )=0.9±0.8 versus −11.5±0.5). Abstract This study examines the impact of spatial landscape configuration (e.g., clustered, dispersed) on land‐surface temperatures (LST) over Phoenix, Arizona, and Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. We classified detailed land‐cover types via object‐based image analysis (OBIA) using Geoeye‐1 at 3‐m resolution (Las Vegas) QuickBird 2.4‐m (Phoenix). Spatial autocorrelation (local Moran's I ) was then used to test for dependence determine how clustered or dispersed points were arranged. Next, we...
