We show that a slightly modified Breit-Wigner formula can successfully describe the total cross section even for broad resonances, from light ρ(770) to heavy Z boson. In addition mass, width, and branching fraction, we include another resonance parameter turns out be directly related pole residue phase. The new has two mathematically equivalent forms: one with other parameters.

In spite of long-lasting discussions, the agreement on existence $N(1710)$ ${P}_{11}$ resonance has not yet been reached, so Particle Data Group declares it as a 3-star only. We show that proper inclusion inelastic channels in coupled-channel formalism indisputably demands state, and presumably stays hidden within continuum ambiguity typical single-channel partial-wave analysis. Consequently, confidence rating this state should be raised to 4-star resonance.

The Zagreb analysis partial-wave $T$ matrices included in the Review of Particle Physics [by Data Group (PDG)] contain Breit-Wigner parameters only. As advantages pole over quantifying scattering matrix resonant states are becoming indisputable, we supplement original solution with parameters. A model-independent method for the determination of resonance parameters as K-matrix pole from a T matrix is presented. The based on eliminating dependence choice channel basis by analyzing trace K and matrices in coupled-channel formalism, rather than individual elements multichannel scattering matrix.

Within the framework of a mathematically well-defined coupled-channel T-matrix model we have improved existing multichannel pole-extraction procedure based on numerical analytic continuation channel propagator, and for first time present full set pole parameters already published amplitudes. Standard single-channel method (speed plot) was then applied to those amplitudes resulting sets poles were inspected. The anomaly has been established that in some partial waves values extracted using...

All resonances, from hydrogen nuclei excited by the high-energy gamma rays in deep space to newly discovered particles produced Large Hadron Collider, should be described same fundamental physical quantities. However, two distinct sets of properties are used describe resonances: pole parameters (complex position and residue) Breit-Wigner (mass, width, branching fractions). There is an ongoing decades-old debate on which them abandoned. In this study nucleon resonances emerging elastic...

Eta meson production in the proton-proton scattering is dominated by low-mass exchange. We present a brief study on how type of exchanged mesons within coupled-channel and multi-resonance model influences observables. show under which circumstances eta exchange may explain shape observed cross sections, few selected results: total section full energy range, distribution at 15.5 MeV.

The broad non-strange meson $f_0$(500) is considered to be a non-Breit-Wigner resonance. It generally assumed that if resonance it can hardly described by Breit-Wigner form. We show here not true neither for the Z boson, nor much narrower $\Delta(1232)$, and explain why fits with them perfectly. Key differences between boil down single parameter: angle at which we see pole from threshold, explains background, residue phase, difference parameters.

Single channel, single energy partial wave analyses (SE_PWA) are from the first principles non-unique in inelastic region if only data elastic channels used, so we details discuss mechanisms how problem is eliminated pion-nucleon scattering. The "continuum ambiguities" puzzle has been extensively discussed since early 1970es, and two major for solving have suggested: either to ensure continuity of Argand diagrams by imposing T-matrix t-channel analyticity (Karlsruhe-Helsinki, VPI/GWU) or...

In the course of devising a simple method for extraction S-matrix poles from data, an additional fundamental resonance property emerged. It is reaction invariant quantity, and since it directly related to Breit-Wigner parameters, we call phase beta. We propose that this beta added in resonant data tables.
