Chemical communication is an important mode of in the courtship and breeding processes amphibians. In caudates, multiple components sexual pheromones have been identified functionally verified. One these pheromone systems plethodontid modulating factor (PMF). anurans, called amplexin was found nuptial pads ranids considered a member PMF system, yet its bio-function has not tested. this study, we obtained 18 transcript sequences from Nidirana pleuraden (Amphibia, Ranidae) by transcriptome...

Patients with severe burns continue to display a high mortality rate during the initial shock period. The precise molecular mechanism underlying change in host response burn remains unknown. This study aimed identify key genes leading shock. The GSE77791 dataset, which was utilized previous that compared hydrocortisone administration placebo (NaCl 0.9%) inflammatory reaction of shock, downloaded from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database and analyzed differentially expressed (DEGs)....

Abstract Transposable elements (TEs) are a major determinant of eukaryotic genome size. The collective properties genomic TE community reveal the history TE/host evolutionary dynamics and impact present-day host structure function, from to organism levels. In rare cases, community/genome size has greatly expanded in animals, associated with increased cell changes anatomy physiology. Here, we characterize landscape transcriptome an amphibian giant — caecilianIchthyophis bannanicus, which show...

Herpetofauna have attracted considerable global attention due to their high risk of extinction. The Mountains Southwest China are among the 36 biodiversity hotspots and irreplaceability, Shaluli core area this region. However, diversity conservation status herpetofauna in remain unclear. In study, we updated species richness composition information based on extensive field expeditions, published literature, museum specimens. addition, identified local key environmental factors limiting...

Measurements of historical specimens are widely applied in studies taxonomy, systematics, and ecology, but biologists often assume that the effects preservative chemicals on morphology amphibian minimal their analyses. We compared body length mass 182 samples 13 live preserved (up to 10 years) anuran species found significantly decreased by 6.1% 24.8%, respectively, those measurements counterparts. The changes also exhibited highly significant variations between species. Similarly, there...

Owing to their incomplete adaptation the terrestrial environment, amphibians possess complex cutaneous glandular systems. The skin glands not only regulate water loss and respiratory gas salt exchange, but are also involved in defense against predators microorganisms, social communication, reproduction. These distributed throughout integument, can accumulate specific regions, forming visible outgrowths known as macroglands. Some macroglands sexually dimorphic mediate intersexual...

Abstract The Taliang crocodile newt, Liangshantriton taliangensis , which is endemic to south-western China, a rare salamandrid species with distinct evolutionary history. Using combined field observations and captive experiments, we studied the courtship behaviour male sexual interference of this composed complete ethogram its behaviour. Unlike previous reports on sperm transfer, L. did not deposit spermatophores during ventral amplexus females pick up masses in phase. Sperm transfer was...

Pheromones play a pivotal role in chemical communication across various taxa, with protein-based pheromones being particularly significant amphibian courtship and reproduction. In this study, we investigate the Emei music frog (Nidirana daunchina), which utilizes both acoustic signals for communication. Base on de novo assembled genome of male frog, identify substantial expansion four pheromone-related gene families associated Notably, six members two-domain three-finger protein (2D-TFP)...

In the present study, we have sequenced, annotated and characterized complete mitogenome of Tanichthys flavianalis Li, Liao & Shen, 2022, which is an endemic minnow to Hainan Province, China. The entire size 16,545 bp, containing 37 genes coding for 13 mitochondrial proteins, 22 tRNAs, 2 rRNAs, one putative control region. It has typical fish gene arrangement, though with 9 overlaps 17 intergenic spacers scattering throughout mitogenome, a high A + T bias (60.8%) comparing other Cyprinids....
