Current carbon capture and utilization (CCU) technologies require high energy input costly catalysts. Here, an effective pathway is offered that addresses climate action by atmospheric CO2 sequestration. Industrially relevant highly reactive alkali cellulose solutions are used as absorption media. The latter lead to mineralized materials (MCM) at a tailorable cellulose-to-mineral ratio, forming organic-inorganic viscous systems (viscosity from 102 107 mPa s storage modulus 10 105 Pa)....

In this study the boundary zone around polypropylene fibres in hardened cement paste was defined terms of porosity and unhydrated particles using phase contrast tomography with a spatial resolution 0.637μm within volume 1.305×1.305×1.305 mm3. Pores grains were identified from made blended by separating them computed images thresholding method. identification gray-level ranges pores several approaches, such as tangent-slope overflow criterion including cumulative curve image, utilised. The...

This study experimentally examines the relationship between fibre surface roughness, its wettability, and microstructure of cement paste close to fibre. Results indicate that amount water adheres or is retained by grows with increase in roughness. The distributions porosity unhydrated grains, which were produced through analysis BSE images a k-means clustering algorithm up 100μm from surface, revealed decrease both large pores when roughness increased but not clear effect on distribution grains.

Abstract The performance of cementitious composites reinforced with fibres or/and bars depends on the bond strength between inclusion and matrix. nature formation fibre‐matrix is crucial for enhancing reliability utilisation composites. research provides a review recently published result about changes in microstructure cement matrix surrounding steel different surface roughness, using scanning electron microscope (SEM) coupled k ‐means clustering algorithm image segmentation. debonding...

Pull-out tests of fibres were conducted using slow cyclic tension to evaluate the behaviour bond between cement paste and steel with different types surface roughness. Even though load amplitude increases in small steps cycles, development residual slip increment proves absence a complete at beginning loading. During steps, evolves deceleration, steady, acceleration stages. The stiffness during ascending descending parts load-slip curve up last indicating that loading compacts matrix near...
