Abstract We report on comprehensive experimental studies of turbulence spreading in edge plasmas. These demonstrate the relation and entrainment to intermittent convective density fluctuation events or bursts (i.e. blobs holes). The non-diffusive character is thus elucidated. velocity (or mean jet velocity) manifests a linear correlation with skewness fluctuations, increases auto-correlation time fluctuations. Turbulence by positive fluctuations outward, while negative inward. degree...
Abstract Experimental studies of the dynamics shear flow and turbulence spreading at edge tokamak plasmas are reported. In this paper, we systematically derive a model for turbulence spreading from the basic kinetic equation. The contains explicit nonlocal nonlinear diffusion and growth. When nonlocality scale parameter δb (banana width) vanishes, reduces to usual model. We elucidate mechanisms of saturation Results show that effects, especially growth, thicken front increase speed propagation. More intensity penetrates stable region when increases. penetration depth Δp is proportional , therefore fraction in...
Abstract The E × B staircase is a quasi-periodic pattern of pressure profile corrugations. In this work, we present new mechanism for formation that involves resonant transport versus non-resonant transport. We start from potential vorticity evolution system and use quasi-linear theory, model dispersion relation, bi-Lorentzian spectrum approximation, to construct the relation between fluxes profiles. With these fluxes, close equations extended turbulence intensity equation, which together...
