The recent economic crisis in Greece resulted a serious wintertime air pollution episode Thessaloniki. This quality deterioration was mostly due to the increased price of fuel oil, conventionally used as source energy for domestic heating, which encouraged residents burn less expensive wood/biomass during cold season. A sampling campaign fine particles (PM2.5) conducted Thessaloniki winters 2012 and 2013 an effort quantify extent ambient impacted by wood smoke emissions. results indicated...
Abstract The occurrence and the mass balance of 16 EPA polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were investigated in a conventional activated sludge treatment plant. Polycyclic hydrocarbon concentrations determined wastewater samples from different stages. PAHs raw sewage statistically analyzed to examine whether temporal factors (sampling period, day hour sampling) had significant effect on observed variance. Sampling period was only factor that showed impact. Principal component analysis...
