CTSD/CathD/CATD (cathepsin D) is a lysosomal aspartic protease. A distinguishing characteristic of CTSD its dual functions promoting cell proliferation via secreting pro-enzyme outside the cells as ligand, and apoptosis mature form this enzyme inside cells; however, regulation secretion, expression, maturation undetermined. Using lepidopteran insect

Different from holometabolous insects, the hemipteran species such as pea aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum exhibit reduced immune responses with absence of genes coding for antimicrobial peptide (AMP), deficiency (IMD), peptidoglycan recognition proteins (PGRPs), and other immune-related molecules. Prior studies have proved that phenoloxidase (PO)-mediated melanization, hemocyte-mediated phagocytosis, reactive oxygen (ROS) participate in defense against bacterial infection. Also, conserved...

The nuclear receptor EcRB1, which is activated by the insect steroid hormone 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E), reportedly phosphorylated a protein kinase after 20E induction. However, has not been identified, and significance of EcRB1 phosphorylation unclear. In this study, we identified C δ (PKCδ) isoform (the E isoform) that phosphorylates in lepidopteran Helicoverpa armigera, serious agricultural pest worldwide, to promote apoptotic gene expression apoptosis during metamorphosis. Through...

Objective Cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) is the most common vascular cause of cognitive impairment. This study aimed to explore association between MTHFR C677T polymorphism and impairment in CSVD patients. Methods Demographic, medical, laboratory, evaluation, data were collected from patients admitted our hospital January 2019 July 2023. Inclusion criteria for based on Standards Reporting Vascular changes Neuroimaging (STRIVE) criteria, with age ≥ 45 years. Binary logistic regression...

Immune cells play a vital role in the development and progression of lung cancer (LC). We aimed to explore causal immune LC with Mendelian randomization (MR) study. Summary statistic data used study were obtained from genome-wide association studies (GWAS). A comprehensive two-sample MR was carried out 731 cell traits (ICTs) LC, Non-small (NSCLC), Small (SCLC). An inverse-variance weighted (IVW) approach applied present estimates. The heterogeneity test performed using Cochran's Q statistic....

Microbe-catalyzed surface modification is a promising method for the production of special targeting nanomaterials. A bacterium-selective material can be obtained by investigating microbe-catalyzed mineralization proteins. Herein, novel was fabricated biosynthesis FeS-decorated porphyrin–protein clusters (P-CA@BE) via E. coli (Escherichia coli)-catalyzed bio-Fe(III) reduction and bio-sulfidation porphyrin (P), caffeic acid (CA), protein [bovine serum albumin (BSA)] assemblies. Six triterpenoids (1-6), four megastigmanes (7-10) and five hydroxycinnamic acid derivatives (11-15) were isolated from the aerial part of Anisomeles indica (Lamiaceae). Of these components, compound 1 was identified to be a new triterpenoid with structure 2α,3α,19α-trihydroxyurs-12,20(30)-dien-28-oic based on extensive analysis MS, 1D 2D NMR spectroscopic data, while compounds 2-13 obtained for first time species.

Endoparasitoid wasps introduce venom into their host insects during the egg-laying stage. Venom proteins play various roles in physiology, development, immunity, and behavior manipulation regulation. In this study, we identified a protein, MmRho1, small guanine nucleotide-binding protein derived from ovary endoparasitoid wasp Microplitis mediator found that knockdown of its expression by RNA interference caused down-regulation vitellogenin juvenile hormone, egg production, cocoons formation...

Abstract The abuse of antibiotics has led to a rapid increase in the resistance bacteria and environmental pollution. Attenuating bactarial membrane metabolism by functional celluloses is an effective strategy find bacteriostatic agents as replacers traditional antibiotics. Herein, novel fluorescent cellulose (CEL-THPP) was synthesized covalent coupling with porphyrin derivatives (THPP). coordination Zn (II) ion CEL-THPP induced self-assembly producing CEL-THPP@Zn near-infrared light...
