Leachates exhibiting an unstable ratio of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and chemical (COD) approximately 0.45 are typical new landfills in the City Cachoeira Paulista, Brazil. Although organic matter portion is bio-treatable, presence refractory leached material requires unconventional effluent-treatment processes. Leachate treatment with ozone oxidation, ferric ions, acts as catalyst formation hydroxyl radicals. Ozone was obtained by corona-discharge from high-purity O2 gas. The performed...

Initially, Taguchi’s Orthogonal Array L16 (Photo-Fenton and Ozone) applied, with which it obtained 29.07% TOC removal. Then, optimized Photo-Fenton RSM, thus achieved highest percentage removal= 54.68%. Advanced oxidative processes (AOP) are an important alternative in the treatment of industrial effluents. Several studies literature report that kinetic profile organic matter oxidation presents behavior typical pseudo-first-order reactions. Recent work indicates a conversion rate two phases: (1) rapid initial phase described kinetics and (2) decelerated as pseudo-first order. Previously published proposed empirical stochastic model reproduced these behaviors. In present study, we found...
