ABSTRACT Blueberry cultivation requires insect‐mediated pollination for optimal fruit formation. Studies have shown that improving the efficiency of pollen exchange during flowering increases both quantity and quality fruit. flowers a unique anther structure facilitates release through specialised interaction called ‘buzz pollination’, which is performed by wild bee species rather than Apis mellifera . The study aims to assess effects management, weed landscape heterogeneity on pollinator...

Abstract Fruit and vegetable crops are affected by numerous arthropods, including aphids thrips. Hoverfly adults important pollinators, their larvae mainly aphid predators. Molecular studies on the stomach contents of allowed to associate hoverflies with consumption other soft‐bodied thrips, few records found in Neotropical hoverfly species. Allograpta exotica (Wiedemann) (Diptera: Syrphidae), a species widely distributed Americas, from USA Argentinian Patagonia, has been associated aphids,...

Abstract Native parasitoids are potential tools for the biological control of invasive exotic pests, such as frugivorous flies spotted‐wing drosophila, Drosophila suzukii Matsumura, and African fig fly, Zaprionus indianus Gupta (both Diptera: Drosophilidae). Following invasions, establishment species may be restricted, among other things, by their susceptibility to native or established natural enemies. The Neotropical‐native pupal endoparasitoid Trichopria anastrephae Costa Lima...

Abstract Syrphid larvae are effective biological control agents in numerous crops due to their voracity, and they used both augmentative conservation‐based strategies within horticultural systems. This study conducted laboratory trials ascertain the predation rate of Allograpta exotica (Wiedemann) (Diptera: Syrphidae) on Chaetosiphon fragaefolii (Cockerell) (Hemiptera: Aphididae) compare it with Aphis gossypii Glover Aphididae), another significant aphid species affecting strawberries....

Population variations of predatory hoverflies in agroecosystems depend mainly on the resources that crops and wild vegetation provides them as well death caused by natural enemies. We identified I) aphidophagous hoverfly species lettuce broccoli Buenos Aires, II) seasonal immature stages their larval parasitism, III) plants, surrounding crops, visited adults. Fortnightly, 30 leaves were randomly selected both during 2018-2019 syrphids aphids per leaf recorded. Adults manually collected...

The genus Aneriophora Stuardo & Cortés 1952, previously considered endemic to Chile, is recorded for the first time from Argentina. Specimens of aureorufa (Philippi, 1865) were collected in Neuquén Province and deposited entomological collection Instituto Argentino de Zonas Áridas, Mendoza, A diagnosis, distribution map, photographs A. are provided.

Two species of syrphid flies are reported for the first time in Argentina: neotropical Rhingia nigra Macquart and exotic Eumerus obliquus (Fabricius). Individuals both were captured province Misiones. Moreover, another individual E. was reared from a decaying stem Austrocylindropuntia subulata (Cactaceae) Tucumán. Finally, we report presence strigatus (Fallén) Chubut, more than 400 km to southwest its southernmost record.

Assassin bugs are one of the most diverse families cimicomorphan Heteroptera and known from all biogeographic regions. Except for kissing (Triatominae) that hemathophagous, reduviids show a predatory behavior usually study as potential biocontrollers crop pests. In this way, Harpactorines have been specially studied they mostly diurnal live on vegetation. contribution, complete life cycle Harpactor angulosus (Lepeletier & Serville, 1825) is described illustrated. Specimens were collected...
