This study aimed to determine the post-harvest quality of lettuce treated with ozonised water obtained in a microbubble system. The inlet ozone concentration was fixed at 3.5 mg L−1, which allowed obtaining 1.60 L−1 water. Six treatments were adopted: (i) control (untreated lettuce); (ii) water/5 min; (iii) water/10 (iv) oxygen/5 (v) oxygen/10 and (vi) chlorine/15 min. After treatments, samples stored 5°C relative humidity 80%. Microbiological physicochemical analyses performed immediately...

Advancing functional ecology depends fundamentally on the availability of data reproductive traits, including those from tropical plants, which have been historically underrepresented in global trait databases. Although some valuable databases created recently, they are mainly restricted to temperate areas and vegetative traits such as leaf wood traits. Here, we present Rock n' Seeds, a database seed germination experiments Brazilian rock outcrop vegetation, recognized outstanding centers...

ABSTRACT Lychees are perishable fruits, and the application of ozone is a promising technology to preserve their quality. This study aimed determine effects gas ozonated mist on physicochemical properties lychees. Two assays were performed using mist. The experiments split-plot scheme, in which plots corresponded treatments (ozone concentration or exposure time) subplots storage time, following completely randomized design with three replicates. In first experiment, concentrations tested (10...

Ozone gas (O3) is a promising alternative for fungal inactivation in agricultural commodities. This study aimed to (i) investigate the influence of airflow on saturation popcorn kernels with ozone gas, (ii) evaluate its effectiveness controlling Aspergillus flavus, and (iii) analyze quality ozonated grains. Samples 3.0 kg were exposed oxygen (control) or at specific flow rates 0.15 1.00 m3 min−1 t−1, an input concentration 16.0 mg L−1 0, 6, 12, 24, 36, 48 h. Quality parameters assessed...

Abstract Although germination sensu stricto and germination–dormancy balance are essential to each other, few reports demonstrate the effects of their relationship on patterns seed–seedling transition. We studied this by using diaspores Paepalanthus chiquitensis , a threatened everlasting flowering species. assessed three aspects: (a) water dynamics in germinating diaspores, (b) thermal stimulation (35, 40, 50, 60 70°C for 30 min) (c) imbibition (4 hr) growth stimulators (100, 200 or 300 mg...
