A new nematode species of the Diplotriaenidae is described from Neotropical region. The was found infecting body cavity snake Xenodon merremii (Wagler in Spix) collected municipality Barbalha, Ceará State, Northeastern Brazil. Hastospiculum nordestinum n. sp. differs congeners by combining following characters: caudal end ornamented with lateral alae not surrounding tail and connected, supported eight pairs pedunculated papillae (three precloacal, one paracloacal, four postcloacal pairs)...

Aplectana longa n. sp. (Ascaridida: Cosmocercidae) from the small intestine of Gastrotheca microdiscus (Amphibia: Hemiphractidae) is described and illustrated. The new species characterized by combination a unique set morphological characters: 1) Large body size in both sexes; 2) Lateral alae absent; 3) Gubernaculum present, small, thin, weakly sclerotized, pointed at distal end curved proximally end, with punctiform papilla-like dilation, 4) Caudal papillae arrangement (9+1:0:6)....

Abstract During an ecological study with a near-endangered anuran in Brazil, the Schmidt’s Spinythumb frog, Crossodactylus schmidti Gallardo, 1961, we were given chance to analyze gastrointestinal tract of few individuals for parasites. In this paper, describe new species allocreadiid trematode genus Creptotrema Travassos, Artigas & Pereira, 1928, which possesses unique trait among allocreadiids (i.e., bivalve shell-like muscular structure at opening ventral sucker); represents fourth...

Ticks collected on 21 different species of amphibians and reptiles captured during 2001 to 2017 in the northeast Brazil were identified. Overall, 227 individuals (185 larvae, 32 nymphs, 7 adults females 3 males) identified as follow: Amblyomma dissimile, rotundatum, sp. Ornithodoros mimon, rietcorreai, an Herein, we present 25 new tick-host associations, thus contributing knowledge tick-fauna associated from Brazilian northeast.

Cosmocerca spp. are common nematode parasites of amphibians. We provide herein molecular data for two species and describe a new species, albopunctata n. sp., using light microscopy (cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 - COI mtDNA). sp. can be easily distinguished from other congeneric by the combination characteristics such as body size, length spicules gubernaculum, arrangements number caudal papillae (7 + 1:1 1:6). The phylogenetic results based on partial mtDNA sequences clustered in...
