Asthma affects 25-30% of children living in certain disadvantaged Chicago neighborhoods, a rate twice the national prevalence (13%). Children poor, minority communities tend to rely heavily on emergency department (ED) for asthma care and are unlikely be properly medicated or educated self-management. A pilot project implemented evaluated community health worker (CHW) model its effectiveness reducing morbidity improving quality life among African-American neighborhoods.Trained CHWs from...

Abstract Late Palaeozoic‐age strata from the Capitan Reef in west Texas show facies‐dependent heterogeneity sulphur isotopic composition of carbonate‐associated sulphate, which is trace sulphate incorporated into carbonate minerals that often used to reconstruct ancient seawater. However, diagenetic pore fluid processes may influence sulphate. These variously modify syndepositional seawater shelf crest, outer shelf, margin and slope depositional settings. This study a new multicollector...

Abstract – Movement and dispersal patterns are key biological processes across a range of organisational levels. The Fundulus notatus species complex includes several with similar ecological niches that exhibit broadly overlapping ranges. We conducted mark–recapture study on two the most widely distributed members this to improve our understanding their movement habitat use. A population F. was studied between June August 2008 2009 in Cahokia Creek, small tributary Mississippi River...

The Acculturation Rating Scale for Mexican Americans—II is one of the most frequently used measures acculturation, despite lack validation. This study analyzed structure Marginality using data from a diverse Latino sample residents. Confirmatory factor analysis yielded poor model-to-data fit hypothesized scales. Exploratory and tests construct validity were performed to further analyze Scale. Results indicate that revised version needs work should be validated with original intended...

Limited research attention has focused on homicides involving foreign-born victims. Using data from the National Violent Death Reporting System, we examined 9428 that occurred in 2017 United States across 32 states and D.C. Approximately 8% of homicide victims were foreign-born. Homicide victimization rates substantially lower for persons, compared to U.S.-born persons. However, persons Honduras, El Salvador, Jamaica had a higher risk victimization. Notably, few gang- or drug-trade-related....

Abstract Understanding the interaction between sexual and natural selection within variable environments is crucial to our understanding of evolutionary processes. The handicap principle predicts females will prefer males with exaggerated traits provided those are indicators male quality ensure direct or indirect female benefits. Spatial variability in ecological factors expected alter balance that defines evolution such traits. Male blackspotted topminnows (Fundulidae: Fundulus olivaceus )...

Although manatee grass is becoming increasingly abundant in Texas bays, its growth characteristics have not been measured the western GOM. Changes seagrass species composition can significant community effects (Micheli et al. 2008), but of a transition from shoal to LM extensively studied (but see Tolan 1997). The goals our study were measure patterns these two locations GOM that vary salinity, epiphyte loads, and nutrient inputs.
