Microplastic (MP) ingestion, along with accumulated plasticizers such as bisphenol A (BPA), F (BPF), and S (BPS), phthalates represented by diethyl phthalate (DEP), dibutyl (DBP) bis (2-ethylhexyl) (DEHP), were quantified in bivalves, fish, holothurians collected from a coastal pristine area at the western Mediterranean Sea. MP ingestion sediment-feeders (mean value 12.67 ± 7.31 MPs/individual) was statistically higher than bivalves fish 4.83 5.35 3 4.44 MPs/individual, respectively). The...

We conducted one of the first studies to integrate quantification and characterization microplastics (MPs), including fibers, in different habitats (sea surface, seafloor beach sediments) a coastal Mediterranean marine protected area, analyzing their ingestion several species. The objectives study were evaluate distribution MPs according shape polymer, assess contribution fibers local plastic pollution fish invertebrates species that inhabit area (Pagrus pagrus, Serranus scriba,...
