Türkiye’s geographic position between Europe, Asia, and Africa gives it pivotal importance for understanding the local, interregional, intercontinental dynamics of Neogene vertebrate evolution. Although rich in fossil deposits spanning Middle Late Miocene, associated geochronology has been limited by lack available volcanic materials that allow radioisotopic dating geochemical correlation. As a result, calibrating mammalian evolution largely restricted to semicircular application...

Abstract We investigate the shallow plumbing system of Deccan Traps Large Igneous Province using rock and mineral data from Giant Plagioclase Basalt (GPB) lava flows around entire province, but with a focus on Saurashtra Peninsula, Malwa Plateau, base top Western Ghats (WG) pile. GPB lavas in WG typically occur at transition between chemically distinct basalt formations. Most samples are evolved basalts, high Fe Ti contents, show major trace elements Sr-Nd-Pb isotopic compositions generally...

Abstract The eruptive history of the Malwa Plateau Subprovince Deccan Traps is addressed by dating 21 lavas spanning exposed stratigraphic extent, using 40 Ar/ 39 Ar method applied to plagioclase separates. Major, minor, and trace element geochemistry was determined for each dated four additional ones. Dating results indicate that eruptions began prior 66.8 Ma, at least 400 ka before oldest known lava in more extensively studied Western Ghats, representative main province, south. Eruption...

Abstract The Mesoproterozoic MARA terrane of western South America is a composite igneous-metamorphic complex that important for Paleozoic paleogeographic reconstructions and the relative positions Laurentia Gondwana. magmatic detrital records are consistent with Laurentian origin; however, metamorphic deformation lack sufficient detail to constrain correlation units within timing mechanisms accretion Gondwana margin. Combined regional mapping, petrology, garnet monazite geochronology from...

<p>Our systematic study of the spatial-temporal evolution magmatism in Deccan Traps   Large Igneous Province provides new data from Malwa Plateau(MP) subprovince, which lies north comparatively well-studied Western Ghats. 40Ar/39Ar analysis was performed by incremental laser heating multigrained plagioclase aliquots, multiple (typically 4) experiments per sample.  Achievable precision is strongly anticorrelated with Ca/K plagioclase,...
