In this study, nanostructured hydroxyapatite (HAp) was successfully extracted from the bones of Priacanthus macracanthus (Red Big Eye), a species commonly processed in fish industry, generating significant waste. The extraction process utilized an alkaline hydrolysis method optimized with 2 M sodium hydroxide at 250 °C for 5 h, producing high-purity HAp. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) confirmed presence characteristic phosphate peaks 1044 cm⁻¹ and 963 cm⁻¹, hydroxyl 632...
Low vitamin A levels have been found in a number of diseases children. The aim this study was to examine the status children with asthma and correlate changes severity disease. Serum A, retinol-binding protein (RBP), albumin were estimated 35 asthmatic (24 males) age group 2-12 years (mean 5.89 years) 29 controls (19 males). Both control groups similar respect age, sex, overall nutritional status. Twenty-four (68.6%) had moderate severe persistent eight mild asthma. Only three patients...
Background: Mechanical ventilation and sedation are inextricably linked components of critical care that represent, what we do for the patients during their vulnerable course in Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Aims: The aim this study is to compare efficacy safety midazolam dexmedetomidine on mechanical ventilator with help Bispectral Index (BIS) monitoring correlation BIS Sedation-Agitation Scale (SAS). Settings Design: Prospective, observational, comparative study. Materials Methods: In study,...
Congenital hyperinsulinism (CHI) is the most frequent cause of severe, persistent hypoglycemia in infancy and childhood. We report a case CHI with diffuse pancreatic abnormality diagnosed preoperatively using 68Ga octreotide (DOTA NOC) positron emission tomography scan. Genetic analysis revealed homozygous ABCC8 splicing mutation. Subtotal (95%) pancreatectomy was done, infant remained euglycemic discharged on breast feeds. The patient continuously followed up asymptomatic until 9 months.
Incidence of postoperative liver dysfunction continues to be high (ranging from 10-35%) in those who underwent cardiac surgeries using cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) and is associated with considerable morbidity mortality. Prolonged time (CPBT) was found an independent predictor dysfunction. So, the aim study evaluate effect prophylactic use N-acetylcysteine (NAC) patients undergoing on-pump surgery expected prolonged CPBT prevention dysfunction.60 consenting adult CPB more than 120 mins were...
Background: Head injury presents a major worldwide social, economic, and health problem. Hyperglycemia is significant indicator of the severity predictor outcome, which can easily be prevented. There has been long-standing controversy regarding use inhalational or intravenous (i.v.) anesthetic agents for surgery head cases impact these on blood sugar level. Aims Objectives: The aim this study to find out drugs technique having minimal no effect sugar, Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) patients with...
Multiple splenic abscesses are a condition associated with high mortality if there is delay in the diagnosis and initiation of specific treatment. Salmonella typhi as an etiological cause multiple distinct rarity. In past treatment for abscess including enteric fever was splenectomy however; conservative by percutaneous drainage increasingly being reported isolated now abscesses. We report child who presented successfully treated aspiration antibiotics.
The present study examined the duration of bronchodilation induced by nebulized glycopyrronium bromide (GB) and compared its effectiveness incidence any side effects with combination salbutamol ipratropium (SI) in critically ill mechanically ventilated chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients.
ABSTRACT Background: Sepsis-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) is difficult to prevent because most patients are diagnosed after they develop it. Standard serum and urine creatinine levels insensitive nonspecific for detecting in its early stages. Glutathione S-transferase (GST) has received little attention as a biomarker AKI. Methods: This study included 65 adult with sepsis who developed oliguria within 72 h of admission. Baseline values were recorded at least 1 month before or intensive...

Background: Introduction of sevoflurane and desflurane had increased anaesthetic choices for maintenance general anesthesia in neurosurgical cases after isoflurane. Aims: To compare emergence characteristics, intraoperative haemodynamic brain relaxation between isoflurane, patients undergoing elective supratentorial craniotomy. Settings Design: Randomized, prospective comparative study. Subjects Methods: In this study, recruited were randomly allocated three groups. Groups I, S, D received...
Ventilator setting in the intensive care unit patients is a topic of debate and tidal volume (TV) should be patient-specific based on lung mechanics. In this study, we have evaluated to develop optimal ventilator strategies through continuous thorough monitoring respiratory mechanics during ongoing support prevent alveolar collapse injury mechanically ventilated patients. In our monocentric, randomized, observational had recruited 60 divided them into two groups 30 each. Group 1 patients, TV...
Despite the latest advances in breast surgery, procedure is frequently associated with postoperative pain, nausea, and vomiting, which leads not only to increased patient's suffering but also a prolongation of hospital stays related costs. Thoracic paravertebral block (TPVB) has been successfully used provide analgesia for multiple thoracic abdominal procedures both children adults.Forty patients were allocated this observational, comparative study divided into two groups 20 each, namely...
Background: The addition of an adjuvant, like clonidine and fentanyl, in epidural blockade has enhanced the effectiveness local anaesthetics as they not only help intensifying prolonging effect but also reduction dose anaesthetics. Methods: Our study had 45 patients, all patients belonged to ASA grade-I or II, between 20 55 years age requiring neuraxial for lower abdominal surgeries. All were randomly allocated into two groups. Group-I: Epidural ropivacaine 0.75% (14.5ml) + Fentanyl 50 µgm (1...
Abstract Background The anaesthetic agents can affect the quality of motor-evoked potential intraoperatively as they inhibit synaptic transmission. Intravenous anaesthetics suppress lesser than inhalational agents, so total intravenous anaesthesia or a combination with minimal supplementation is used when monitored. Motor-evoked get depressed at high doses propofol required to maintain surgical depth, hence, adjuvant like dexmedetomidine that depth without affecting are often required. This...
This study was aimed to investigate the levels of plasma sP-selectin and link between sPselect in circulating WBC count patients with AMI.A total 274 adults (18 years above) clinically suspected acute coronary syndrome who attended cardiac emergency admitted care unit department Cardiology, King George's Medical University, India were enrolled this study.Among them 248 had ECG changes (ST-elevation, ST-depression, T-inversion, appearance Q-wave) or without elevated troponin I treated...
Background: Complications in type II diabetes mellitus patients are quite common. The present study was conducted to assess complications DM patients. Materials & Methods:This department of general medicine on 512 both genders.General information such as name, age, sex, diet, smoking, alcoholism, and family history the disease taken.Diagnosis diabetic done by physician laboratory results were obtained. Results: Out patients, 280 females 232 males.Age group <30 years had 70 males 105 females,...
Introduction: Low back pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal problems among developed and developing nations. The prolapsed intervertebral disc (PIVD) pathology associated with treatable low pain. management protocol for PIVD has evolved from conservative treatment to surgical finally minimally invasive spine interventions. Aims Objectives: aim study was evaluate functional efficacy patient satisfaction in patients percutaneous endoscopic decompression (PEDD). Materials Methods: All...
