Decolourisation of the azo dye model compound, Congo Red (CR), and real textile wastewater, was assessed in one- two-stage anaerobic treatment systems (R₁ R₂, respectively). High colour removals were achieved both even when a very high CR concentration (1.2 mM) applied. However, R₂ presented slightly better stability, which acidogenic reactor (R(2,A)) played major role on reduction, as compared to methanogenic (R(2,M)), evidencing fermentative microorganisms. The minimum electron donor...
The effect of temperature, hydraulic retention time (HRT) and the redox mediator anthraquinone-2,6-disulfonate (AQDS), on electron transfer subsequent color removal from textile wastewater was assessed in mesophilic thermophilic anaerobic bioreactors. results clearly show that compared with treatment, treatment at 55°C is an effective approach for increasing capacity bioreactors, thus improving decolorization rates. Furthermore, similar removals were found between AQDS-free AQDS-supplemented...
This work assessed the impact of redox mediator sodium anthraquinone-2,6-disulphonate (AQDS) on reductive decolourisation azo dye Reactive Red 2 (RR2) in one- and two-stage anaerobic systems (R(1) R(2), respectively). The system achieved better colour removal efficiencies (52-62%) than single-stage (23-33%) absence AQDS. Addition AQDS accelerated electrons transfer from substrate (ethanol) to dye, which increased efficiency both (≈ 85%). Finally, acidogenic methanogenic phases separation was...
