The synergistic application of calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) was investigated to mitigate cadmium (Cd) uptake translocation in rice grown Cd-contaminated soil. A pot experiment conducted using different Ca:Mg molar ratios (Ca1:Mg2, Ca2:Mg1, Ca1:Mg1) evaluate their effect on Cd uptake. results showed that the Ca1:Mg1 treatment achieved highest reduction grain content (54.7%, p < 0.05), followed by Ca2:Mg1 (47.6%), Ca1:Mg2 (40.7%), all below China's National Food Safety Standard (0.2 mg...
Cationic lead/cadmium and anionic arsenic exhibit opposite geochemical behaviors in soils, which makes the synchronous remediation of As, Cd, Pb challenging. In this study, we developed an iron-manganese modified biochar (BC-Fe-Mn) that prepared from straw with iron (Fe) manganese (Mn) loading at a pyrolysis temperature 550 °C. After BC-Fe-Mn immobilization for 90 days, simultaneous efficiency Pb, As reached 57%, 51%, 35%, respectively. Speciation distributions shows transformed specific...
This study was conducted to assess soil nutrient changes following application of mulch materials from Acacia crassicarpa, Albizia zygia, and adianthifolia.Complete Randomized Design used for experimental layout. The constituted the treatments. The plot (3 m × 4 m) partitioned into 12 micro-plots 1 in dimension.Adjacent were separated each other by a buffer 0.5 wide. Each treatment including control (without mulch) replicated three times treatments randomly allocated micro-plots.Ambient...
The roles of protected areas in biodiversity conservation were assessed this study. This was achieved by assessing tree species diversity and volume yield three Akure Forest Reserve, Ondo State, Nigeria. Two sampling plots 50 m × laid each the sites using systematic line transect.Trees with DBH >10cm identified plot, their frequency occurrence ascertained categorized into families. All growth variables measured study sites. The results obtained from indicated that selected within forest reserve...
Nutrient depletion in the rainforest area is a land use constraint that needs urgent attention. This study was carried out to investigate effects of legumes tree leaf mulch placement and N-mineralization on maize productivity rain forest area. Three common indigenous nitrogen-fixing leguminous trees (Albizia ferruginea, Albizia zygia Spondias mombin) were randomly selected around experimental site. Fifty (50g) freshly collected leaves from these species bulked weighed into 20cm x 25cm litter...
This study was carried out to assess diversity, biomass and carbon storage potential of some tree species in a Nigerian forest. All trees with Dbh >10cm were enumerated. Tree growth variables, namely the Diameter at base (Db), breast height (Dbh), middle (Dm), top (Dt) height, measured for basal area volume estimation their frequency occurrence ascertained diversity assessment. Fifty-six (56) distributed among 21 11 families enumerated this area. Some these Acacia ataxacantha, Blighia...
