Abstract Context Noninvasive measurement of bone marrow adipose tissue using magnetic resonance imaging and proton density fat fraction (PDFF) may enhance clinical fractures prediction in postmenopausal women. Objective This study aimed to assess the association between PDFF measurements fracture incidence. Methods A longitudinal was conducted. Postmenopausal women with recent osteoporotic (<12 months) osteoarthritis without were included. Lumbar spine proximal femur PDFFs measured at...

The deeper part of neocortical layer VI is dominated by nonpyramidal neurons, which lack a prominent vertically ascending dendrite and predominantly establish corticocortical connections. These neurons were studied in rat slices using patch-clamp, single-cell reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, biocytin labeling. majority these expressed the vesicular glutamate transporter but not glutamic acid decarboxylase, suggesting that high proportion are glutamatergic. Indeed, they...

Noninvasive assessment of proton density fat fraction (PDFF) by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) may improve the prediction fractures. This work aimed to determine if an association exists between PDFF and fractures.A case-control study was conducted at Lille University Hospital, Lille, France, with 2 groups postmenopausal women: one recent osteoporotic fractures, other no fractures. Lumbar spine proximal femur (femoral head, neck, diaphysis) were determined using chemical shift-based...

This communication records our experience with the percutaneous catheter drainage (PCD) of 22 amoebic liver abscesses in 19 patients who had failed to respond amoebicidal therapy. In one patient a left lobe abscess, imminent rupture was an additional indication for drainage. PCD combined therapy not only expedited recovery, but curative all patients. There were no complications. We conclude that is most useful adjunct drug and recommend its routine use management drug-resistant abscesses.

Sclerostin is a Wnt signaling pathway inhibitor that negatively regulates bone formation. Bone-marrow-derived stromal cell (BMSC) differentiation influenced by the pathway, leading to hypothesis higher levels of sclerostin might be associated with an increase in marrow adiposity (BMA). The main purpose this study was determine whether relationship exists between circulating and BMA post-menopausal women without fragility fractures. relationships body composition parameters were then...

Abstract External Occipital Protuberance (EOP) enlargement has been recently reported to increase in young adults, with a putative link postural factors such as the use of smartphones. This study aims analyze finely changes prevalence and size EOP millennials , throughout smartphone era (2011 – 2019). Anonymized head Computerized Tomography (CT) examinations from patients aged 18-30 2011 (n = 205) or 2019 240), were reviewed assess type measure its volume case enlargement. Additional CT...

BACKGROUNDBone marrow adipose tissue (BMAT) represents >10% fat mass in healthy humans and can be measured by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as the bone fraction (BMFF). Human MRI studies have identified several diseases associated with BMFF but been relatively small scale. Population-scale therefore huge potential to reveal BMAT's true clinical relevance. The UK Biobank (UKBB) is undertaking of 100,000 participants, providing ideal opportunity for such advances.OBJECTIVETo establish deep...

Abstract Objectives No description of the proximal tibiofibular (PTF) ligaments by means high ultrasound has yet been reported in literature. The purpose this study was to assess whether may allow assessment these ligaments. Methods This initially undertaken three cadaveric knees, followed an performed two musculoskeletal radiologists working consensus 52 patients without history trauma or surgery knee, and lateral knee pain. visibility, echogenicity, length thickness PTF were assessed....
