ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to investigate the potential indigenous arsenic-tolerant bacteria enhance arsenic phytoremediation by autochthonous pseudometallophyte Betula celtiberica . first goal perform an initial analysis entire rhizosphere and endophytic bacterial communities above-named accumulator plant, including cultivable species. B. 's microbiome dominated taxa related Flavobacteriales , Burkholderiales Pseudomonadales especially Pseudomonas Flavobacterium genera. A total 54...
Zero valent iron nanoparticles (nZVI) attract interest given their effectiveness in soil remediation. However, little attention has been to impacts on plants. Likewise, although fertilizers are commonly used enhance phytoremediation, effects As mobilization, resulting potential toxic effects, require further study. In this context, we examined the impact of and Hg accumulation antioxidative system Medicago sativa grown a amended with organic fertilizer and/or nZVI. The experiment consisted...
Arsenic (As) and mercury (Hg) contamination in the Asturias region, northern Spain, represents a significant environmental issue that has been extensively studied recent decades. Mining industrial activities, particularly those associated with Hg mining, as well coal mining iron or zinc metallurgical industries, have profoundly impacted environment, evidenced by paleoenvironmental records such peat bogs. These pollution phenomena affect various compartments, including soil. To mitigate...
Explants of Actinidia deliciosa Chev. Liang and Ferguson var. Hayward were cultured in controlled CO2 atmospheres the presence different sucrose concentrations. Organogenesis was measured after 45 days explants from assays, quantification photosynthesis, transpiration, chlorophylls, RUBISCO total soluble protein content performed leaves treatments. The best results those at 600 &mgr;mol mol-1 on 20 g l-1 for first then transferred to sucrose-free medium until end culture period. Increasing...
Soil pollution by As and Hg is a pressing environmental issue given their persistence. The intricate removal processes subsequent accumulation of these elements in soil adversely impact plant growth pose risks to other organisms the food chain underground aquifers. Here we assessed effectiveness non-toxic industrial byproducts, namely coal fly ash steelmaking slag, as amendments, both independently conjunction with an organic fertilizer. This approach was coupled phytoremediation technique...
During formation of adventitious roots, the effects 2‐chlorethylphosphonic acid (CEPA), 1‐aminocyclopropane‐1‐carboxylic (ACC) and aminoethoxyvinylglycine (AVG) added to a Cheng basal medium, supplemented with indole‐3‐butyricacid (IBA) kinetin were determined on peroxidase (PO; EC 1.11.1.7) poiyphenol oxidase (PPO; 1.10.3.1) activities in cotyledon explants hazelnut ( Corylus avellana L. cv. Casina). CEPA stimulated PO PPO while AVG inhibited. SDS‐polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis...
Ethylene may be one of the many factors that play a role in rooting. However, some studies ethylene promoted rooting, while others it was inhibitory or had no effect. Using cotyledons hazelnut ( Corylus avellana L. cv. Casina) observations were made effect precursors on adventitious root formation. l‐methionine (Met) 1‐aminocyclopropane‐1‐carboxylic acid (ACC) added to standard indole‐3‐butyric (IBA)‐kinetin‐containing medium did not enhance 2‐chloroethylphosphonic (CEPA) did. The inhibitor,...
In an effort to study plants of the Rubiaceae from Panama, 299 herbarium samples, representing 133 species, were subjected alkaloid screening. From this total, 234 samples (78%) afforded a positive test for alkaloids, and 99 (33%) gave reaction indole alkaloids; 109 species (82%) contain alkaloids 58 (44%) produce alkaloids. This is first time that 102 (94%) 52 (90%) are reported as bearing, respectively. The results 10 out 15 67%, corroborate earlier studies. richest were: Hamelia patens,...
The relationship between polyamines and ethylene is controversial because the degree of interference one pathway with other may differ according to species, stage development experimental procedure. In this paper, we modify biosynthesis by addition aminoethoxyvinylglicine (AVG) or 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) study how it affects polyamine content kiwifruit explants (Actinidia deliciosa CS Liang. & AR Fergusson). Cultured under ventilation where did not accumulate in...
