Electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) was observed from TOPO-capped CdSe nanocrystals dissolved in CH2Cl2 containing 0.1 M TBAP. The solution of monodisperse with an absorption maximum at 537 nm synthesized 330 °C using TOPO (trioctylphosphineoxide) and TOP (trioctylphosphine) as capping agents Cd-acetate Se powder precursors. photoluminescence (PL) spectrum showed emission 545 nm. Cyclic voltammetry differential pulse this displayed no distinctive features, but light through the...

The electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) spectrum of CdSe/ZnSe nanocrystals (NCs) dispersed in a CH2Cl2 solution containing 0.1 M TBAP was obtained by stepping the potential between +2.3 and −2.3 V. Unlike spectra from ECL Si or CdSe NCs, where emission occurs single peak that is significantly red-shifted photoluminescence (PL) (attributed to surface states), produced two peaks: sharp whose position almost identical PL another broader with red shift ∼200 nm compared PL. This suggests...

An unusual enhancement of photoluminescence from CdSe nanocrystals (NCs) dispersed in air-saturated CHCl3 was observed as a function time. Within two weeks, for samples kept the dark, intensity increased by much factor 6, based on peak height, with no change position or width. This can be attributed to reaction dissolved oxygen, which results surface passivation. NCs growth solution (TOP/TOPO) showed increase.

Organic layer capped Ge nanocrystals (NCs) were synthesized by an arrested-growth method within supercritical octanol. Electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) from the NCs dispersed in N,N'-dimethylformamide (DMF) containing 0.1 M tetra-n-butylammonium perchlorate (TBAP) was observed during potential scans or pulses through annihilation of electrogenerated oxidized and reduced species. The light emission intensity higher oxidation pulses, suggesting that forms more stable than ones. ECL...

The mechanistic aspects of a two-step method for the electrodeposition BiVO4 semiconductor (previously developed in Rajeshwar/Tacconi laboratory) were elaborated by combined application voltammetry and EQCM. electrosynthesized films also characterized ex situ using SEM, EDX, XRD, XPS. Stripping pre-electrodeposited bismuth films, followed reaction either with VO43− (formed hydrolysis from initially added VO3− species) or hydroxide ions, produced Bi2O3 thin on Pt electrode. deposition...

ConspectusMetal oxide semiconductors have many features that make them attractive for both fundamental and applied studies. For example, these compounds contain elements (e.g., Fe, Cu, Ti, etc.) are derived from minerals rendering earth-abundant and, most often, also not toxic. Therefore, they been examined possible applicability in a very diverse range of technological applications including photovoltaic solar cells, charge storage devices, displays, smart windows, touch screens, etc. The...
