Tests of the planktonic foraminifer Globigerinoides ruber (white; d'Orbigny) have become a standard tool for reconstructing past oceanic environments. Paleoceanographers often utilize Mg/Ca ratios foraminiferal tests low‐latitude ocean glacial‐interglacial changes in sea surface temperatures (SST). We report herein comparison measurements on sample pairs (n = 20) two G. (white) morphotypes ( sensu stricto (s.s.) and lato (s.l.)) from downcore samples western Pacific Indian Oceans. s.s....
Abstract The Neo‐Tethyan subduction that operated before the I ndia‐ A sia collision resulted in an Andean‐type convergent margin S outh and was associated with extensive arc magmatism formed Transhimalayan batholiths. Magmatism Gangdese Batholith, largest batholith exposed Lhasa terrane of southern T ibet, is considered to have lasted from early Jurassic Eocene. However, eastward correlation Batholith uncertain because it truncated by eastern H imalayan syntaxis. Here, we report new data...
Abstract Twenty‐one magmatic rocks were analyzed for major and trace elements, a subset of them Sr‐Nd isotopes zircon U‐Pb isotopes, to constrain magma genesis tectonic evolution the Makran arc, southeastern Iran. Representative samples from Bazman Taftan volcanoes yield ages ∼0.84 ∼7.5 Ma, consistent with published ranging Late Miocene Pleistocene. The Mirabad granitic pluton adjacent geochemically similar volcano was dated at ∼19 indicating that arc magmatism might have started earlier...
Abstract The breakup of East and West Gondwana occurred during the Jurassic, but exact timing is uncertain due to limited exposure rocks suitable for radioisotopic dating. Trachytic from Silhouette Island, Seychelles, yielded a range zircon ages Paleoproterozoic Cenozoic. 206 Pb/ 238 U age trachyte 64.9 ± 1.6 Ma (Danian) majority zircons an 163.8 1.8 (Callovian) with small subset yielding 147.7 4.5 (Tithonian). Hf isotopes Callovian ( ε (t) = +4.1 +13.4) Danian +1.9 +7.1) indicate that they...
The eastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau has given rise to much debate about mechanisms plateau uplift and evolution and, in particular, role lower crust crustal thickening. Knowledge middle conditions is critical for evaluating various models deformation, but data on through time are lacking. Here, we turn Gongga Shan granite, an intrusion along Xianshuihe fault easternmost Tibet that directly records local Cenozoic conditions. We present 124 U-Pb samples from granite (GSG) prove been...
Load in distribution networks is normally measured at the 11kV supply points; little or no information known about type of customers and their contributions to load. This paper proposes statistical methods decompose an unknown feeder load its customer sector/sub-sector profiles. The approach used this should assist electricity suppliers economic management, strategic planning future network reinforcements.
