High‐resolution, ultraviolet SO 2 photoabsorption cross section data are required for modeling density and temperature profiles of in solar system atmospheres. We report measurements such sections on at 295 K the 1 B ‐ A bands over wavelength range 220 to 325 nm. SO2 plays an important role in the atmospheric chemistry of Earth, Venus, and Io.
