Abstract This letter proposes a new design for dual segmentation approximate multiplier. The proposed multiplier uses the static segment method (SSM) to select an initial multiplication segment. Following that, dynamic (DSM) is utilized further reduce size. Using only DSM segmenter leads reduced performance gains. Therefore, mixture of SSM and approaches. Compared approach, can energy by 37.90% 32‐bit multipliers, 16.68% 16‐bit multipliers. multipliers have almost identical accuracy.
