Multiaccess edge computing (MEC) service migration is a technology whose key objective to support ultralow-latency access services. However, the complex ultralarge-scale problem requires extensive research efforts, regarding foreseen ultradensified nodes in 5G and beyond. In this article, we propose novel dynamic optimization architecture for MEC networks. We develop new multicriteria decision-making algorithm: Technique order of preference by similarity ideal solution with attribute-based...
Every new mobile communication generation comes with the emergence of novel applications and services. The fifth-generation (5G) is not an exception, its increased performance flexibility are expected to provide support for a plethora utilization scenarios, where network can be tailored, in runtime, particular requirements each use case. In particular, 5G gaining attention different vertical industries as enabler Industry 4.0. However, adopting these technologies requires business models...
5G has been heralded as a critical, decisive technology for verticals' digital transformation. It targets innovative technical capabilities, allowing dedicated and improved communication mechanisms, going beyond the mere performance increase experienced by past generations' evolution. Despite literature already envisaging application of 5G-enabled solutions in vertical-based deployments, there is still lack experimental insights shedding light on actual feasibility capabilities specific...
Abstract Online access to information while on the move has conferred businesses with capability be constantly accessible and in operation, independently of geographical area or time zone. There are situations, however, that demand technical solutions for specific scenarios, such as controlled corporate‐based content. Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) allow remote content, supporting scenarios teleworking. Nonetheless, mechanisms not commonly associated highly mobile users today, which can...
The foreseen exploding number of devices connected to the mobile network has been pushing operators look for mechanisms transparently offload their data. However, such procedures need consider different demands from users' traffic and involved access networks. Towards that end, Network Slicing proposing a logical partition better serve verticals requirements, while providing isolation, achieved by using Software Defined Networking (SDN) Function Virtualisation (NFV) mechanisms. In this...
This paper presents a framework for improved mobile video delivery in high speed vehicles, integrating Network Function Virtualization, Software Defined Networking and Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC), with user mobility service consumption context enabling the dynamic instantiation of services edge-positioned virtualized Content Delivery (vCDN) nodes. Based on estimated vehicle (current future) position, solution determines: where should be dynamically cached at what time; which chunks...
This article presents a framework for improved and efficient video delivery in scenarios featuring users moving at high speed (e.g., trains), leveraging on dynamic Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) enabled 5G network capabilities. The is location-aware it allows the content to efficiently follow users, conserving load usage computational resources, by placing virtualized Content Delivery Network (vCDN) nodes edge sites. are controlled framework's centralized control unit, which able...
This paper proposes and validates a Interdomain Network Slicing framework for verticals, allowing them to directly participate in the establishment control of end-to-end Communication Services deployment across multiple inter-operator domains. The progresses means made available by different standards research initiatives enhance service requesting provisioning interfaces stakeholders involved, namely operators verticals. is validated under two use cases, showcasing effective instantiation...
Some of the constrains on a WSN are limited power source this kind nodes rely on, and unreliable wireless links, hence it is imperative to implement different self-healing topology control mechanisms extend lifetime network. We proposed implemented layered algorithm that generates initial network, splits network in clusters, selects Cluster Head (CH) represents cluster, puts sleep Non-CHs (preserving their battery), finally implements mechanism creates disjoint paths recover when single node...
Abstract Network federation is a promising approach for organizations to improve their infrastructure by pooling resources and creating larger, more scalable network. Despite the many benefits of network federation, there are also significant challenges that must be addressed, such as security, interoperability, policy management. Various efforts have been underway years develop common standards protocols, overcome these challenges. This paper provides comprehensive overview opportunities...
Edge computing brings added benefits for different elements in the overall system (e.g., users, operators and service providers). However, currently there are no proper interfaces mechanisms to instantiate third-party services within operators' infrastructure as a MEC application), thus hindering edge reach its full potential. To fill this gap, paper presents architectural enhancements, enable dynamic efficient deployment domain. A simulation-based analysis is presented showcase relevance of...
The worldwide energy consumption increases every year and it shows no signs of slowing down, particularly with the high rate adoption electric cars. Home systems must be deployed which optimize a house. This paper presents system is able to, given set tasks to perform, should performed at each time. Results showed potential 84% decrease in daily electrical bill when compared household not equipped our task optimization mechanism, leading cost saving 427 annually.
